Area students perform at Madill coffee house Seaforth toy show, Dec. 4, 5 Workshops and businesses across Western Ontario are hubs of activi­ ty, rivaled only by the North Pole, as they prepare their array of prod­ ucts carefully hand-picked to fea­ ture at Seaforth Agricultural Society’s Farm toy, sports Card. Teddy Bear, Doll, Gift and Craft Show. Vehicles packed with goods will begin arriving early Saturday, Dec. 4 to unload for the throngs of visi­ tors set to arrive when the doors open at 10 a.m. Whether a collector of beanie babies, sports cards, farm toys, con­ struction and fire trucks, Boyd bears or farm prints, there will be plenty to add to the collection. For those looking for great gift ideas, the Barbie, antique and porcelaine dolls, cuddly teddy bears, handcrafted clothing and gift baskets are just a few of the choic­ es. For those hard-to-buy-for people on the list, tractor elimination tick­ ets or a ticket to Seaforth’s New Strumming the strings It was a very entertaining evening for those who gathered at the Belgrave Wl Hall last Tuesday as they enjoyed an evening filled with Christian music by Eduard Klassen and his Paraguayan harp. Year’s Eve celebration might be the answer. Seaforth District High School students and Agricultural Society members are getting ready to serve delicious food. Wagons with windbreaks are being prepared to transport patrons between the two buildings housing the many items. Skaters should bring along their blades to get some exercise and have a little family fun during the free skate Saturday and Sunday from 2:30 to 4 p.m. The Seaforth show will be open from 10 a m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 4 and 5. Admission is only $3 per person over 10. Tony winner to appear in Stratford productions Tour Doon by lantern Lantern light tours are returning to Doon Heritage Crossroads for six evenings in December. Tickets are now on sale for this very popular Christmas program that will run Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9, 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18, at 7 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. Each tour includes a visit to a select number of seasonally decorated buildings in the historic village, a horse-drawn wagon ride and a Christmas concert in the Church with Mary Margaret Smith and the Playford Players. Tickets must be purchased in advance and can be ordered over the phone with Visa or Mastercard. For more information call 748- 1914. Stratford Festival of Canada Artistic Director Richard Monette announced that Brent Carver, acclaimed internationally for his Tony Award winning portrayal of Molina in The Kiss of The Spider Woman, will return to Stratford for the 2000 season to perform the roles of Ned Lowenscroft in the world premiere production of Timothy Findley’s Elizabeth Rex and Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof. “I have known Brent and greatly admired his work and talent for many years,” said Monette. “Therefore it is with great pleasure Cosby at the Centre Bill Cosby is coming Kitchener’s The Centre in Square on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000 for two performances only. Madill Secondary School music department coffee house on Friday night. Leading the evening off was the concert band performing Charter­ point, Ceremonium and Stray Cat Strut. Local members of the concert band are Laurie Prior and Nicole White on flute, Michelle DeWit on clarinet, Crystal McLellan on alto saxophone and Joshua Gropp on trumpet. Shaun Henry performed as a member of the band Desalit as did Joshua Gropp and Rob McKercher with their group Perish. Perish per­ formed Bob, MCBR, Country Roads, If This is Dating and Floss­ ing a Dead Horse. Desalit present­ ed Spiders, Leader of Men and Rearranged. The F. E. Madill Singers, includ­ ing alto Kristyn Gerth and bari­ tones Justin Ruttan and Jay Sanders, sang Play for Me a Simple Melody, Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel and The Storm is Passing Over. Rachel and Katrina McQuail per­ formed a modem dance, Qmart; Jay Safiders sang Woodstock’, Ruttan sang Blueberry Hill and Gerth with partner April Przybilla sang You Were Meant for Me. Madill Dance/Jazz band per­ formed several numbers. Local par­ ticipants were Gropp on trumpet and Matt Snow on bass guitar.
