John and Margaret Hildebrand were in charge. Grace was sung with Ell Lapp leading, then a sumptuous meal was enjoyed. Everyone was sorry that Bernice Anderson and Ernie Durnin were unable to attend. After dishes the business meeting began. Secretaries’ and treasurer’s reports were given. It was decided that $50 be given to the Alzheimer Society. It was also decided that $25 be given to Mrs. Cook for her excellent work for the club. Members are to bring a friend to the Christmas dinner. The number must be given to Maxine Seers, a week prior to the meal. Tina Empey, Ethel Ball and Kay Lapp will help decorate the tables. Margaret Hildebrand showed a video on phone fraud. If in doubt, hang up. Marg Hildebrand showed favours, decorated balls, made by her granddaughter in Beijing. Needed to make them are paper strips, capable hands, and the patience of Job. She also gave everyone a program list for Seniors for the year 2000. Margaret continued with her granddaughter’s letters in thi na. Unfortunately it poured rain on field day in Beijing. This was at the square but things continued. They went to the island in the park and found friendly people, lovely landscapes and enjoyed folk singing. At the amusement park there were tigers, pandas and ducks. They spoke about martial arts and cloissonne which is beautiful and inexpensive. Ethel Ball planned on showing Holy City pictures but equipment trouble took over. It will be shown at another meeting. Remember to bring a table favour for the Christmas dinner. Rev. tells children of kings, queens Musical prelude by Bernice Gross, organist, welcomed all to the Knox United Service on Nov. 21 at 9:45 a.m. Rev. Paul Ross lit the Christ candle. Church announcements were given. Remember to bring a white gift of non-perishable food to Dec. 5 service. These are forwarded on to Huron County Christmas Bureau. The children came to the front and out of the mystery bag drew a crown and a robe. Two children became royalty. Rev. Ross said people expect kings and queens to follow God’s word and hold countries together. Rev. Ross gave the day’s scripture from Ezekiel 34. In this the world of God said that as a shepherd he would help those lost or deliver them. Rev. Ross continued with New Testament from Ephesians I. Paul told people that he knew they had faith and God would help them to understand Christ is the head of the church. Rev. Ross continued with Matthew 25 where Jesus told the crowds that those who fed and cared for those in need were doing the same for him. The sermon was The Shepherd King. This world is filled with those who need help, Rev. Ross said, people of all nationalities, young and old refugees and prisoners. People have to be fed and cared for whether rich or poor, well or ill. Christ said God’s people must teach his word and also give help to everyone in need. “He gave his life that we might live,” said Rev. Ross, then closed with prayer. Greeting everyone for the church service were Elliott and Kay Lapp. > * X- * * X- ♦ 4 * > * ♦ * * * * * * * * * * * * ♦ * * * * * * * * Still in hot water over last Christmas?
