Y2K preparedness

provoking talk on experiences
while in political office, from
talking to other women’s groups to
representing Canada in Rome
several times. He also touched on
the changes in the agricultural
scene from horses being replaced
by tractors and whether ancestors
thought of this as the ruination of
the world as some think of the
newly-altered crops.
“Are we Y2K ready?” he asked.
Who knows what will happen in
the next few years, the changes will
happen at a greater rate than even
in the past few years. Will they be
able to put additives to cereals to
prevent or cure diabetes? Or lace
sweet com with Viagra?
“We must look to the future and
think positive about the new
innovations as we must go forward
for our future generations depend
on progression.”
Mrs. Brothers then introduced an
energetic group of young ladies
consisting of Jill Johnston and
Keshia and Kayla Bishop, who
stepdanced.
Ida Evans had a humorous little
story about “Brother Bill”.
In remembrance of those who
fought and who lost their lives in
the war a poem entitled Take time
to Remember was read by Peggy
Keffer and two minutes of silence
were observed.
Happy Birthday was sung to
members having a birthday this
month, Peggy Cudmore, Eleanor
Hemingway and Doris McCall.
The next meeting will be held on
Wednesday, Dec. 8 at JR’s for a
Christmas lunch and the meeting
will then move to the library
basement.
