Atom Rep squad
takes on Clinton
Despite a delay in the start of the
game against Bayfield Saturday
due to the late arrival of officials,
the Brussels Tykes were ready to
win when they hit the ice.
Matt Huether and Ty Sebastian
worked well together on their line,
taking several shots which the Bay-
field goalie smothered.
Huether slid one by at 5:10 of the
first after Brussels won the face-off
in the opponent’s end.
A lot of digging along the boards
resulted in good opportunities by
Daniel Elliott, Jordan Roberts and
Morgan Deitner in the early going.
In the dying minutes of the first,
the combination of Ray Huether
and Brendan Stretton struck for
two. At 1:06, Stretton carried the
puck from the blueline and shot it
across the crease giving Huether
the chance to poke it in.
Stretton scored Brussels’ third at
the 23-second mark.
M. Huether got the scoring going
in the second frame when his wrap
around shot slid in past the post at
10:15. Stretton added his second at
8:08 when he got the puck from a
face-off.
In the third, Stretton took the
puck from the blueline to take the
score to 6-0. Another Stretton shot
was stopped on a beautiful kick
save by the Bayfield netminder.
The Huether boys had a quick
succession of goals during the mid-
third. Ray tallied two and Matt,
one. R. Huether deked the goalie

Oster for the Sting and Mike Mil
lian and Jeff Nesbitt for Auburn.
The Bulldogs slid past the Stars
for a 7-6 victory.
Bulldogs scorers were Shawn
Valsman (two), Don Allen, Brian
Hessels, Darryl Bromley, Mike
McDonald and Mike Bromley.
The Stars will take on the Sting
and the Chiefs will meet the Bull
dogs, next week.

after he brought the rubber in from
the blueline. On his second of the
period, he slid it between the pads.
M. Huether pulled off another
wrap-around at 7:53.
Randy Zwep and Nic Gowing
tried to add to the total late in the
match, but were thwarted.
Danny Donkers helped stop
breaks and Roberts played the blue
line well, keeping the puck in the
Bayfield end, prolonging the attack.

The team showed off some very
nice passing plays.
Chris Becker earned the shutout
in net for Brussels.
Trainer Margaret Jarvis com
mented on the tremendous progress
made by Cole McLean as a second-
year Tyke.
“Cole has been very good on the
face-offs, only losing one of the
many he took in the game,” she
said.

Clinton Atoms came to Brussels
on Friday night to take on the Rep
team.
Clinton was out for a win after
losing to Brussels in the Optimist
tournament and started the scoring
with two goals in the first period.
Christopher Jutzi put Brussels on
the scoreboard scoring on a
powerplay pass from Justin Mayne
in the second period. Less than a
minute later, Clinton scored their
third goal of the game and just over
a minute after that, Doug Schnock
scored on a pass from Steven Ropp
and Cory Chapman.
Going into the third period with
just a one-goal difference, Clinton
pushed onward to score two more
goals. Brussels once again scored
on a power play with Justin Mayne
getting the credit and Greg Bowers
the assist.
