Yvonne came to Huron county with the gifts this area needed to get us smoothly into modern medicine. Sjte was part of a team that pioneered the concept of city experience in a country setting and at a time before it was the IN thing. This ultimately kept our small hospitals consistently safe places to go. Thanks for all your hard work. Have a great retirement Yvonne. Remembrance Day services were well attended in our area, the time to acknowledge the gifts we were given. Sharing their talents of music were Joshua Gropp who played The Last Post at F.E. Madill’s service and Mary Ann and Murray Bone and Phil Graber who did the pipes and drum in Seaforth for their Legion services. Raising kids is the toughest most rewarding job adults will ever do and for this most of us had no training and no license to operate. So it makes me happy to tell you about training for parents at no cost at our public school starting on Tuesday evening. Call the school at 887-9361 for information and plan to attend. It’s a chance to talk about families, growth, anger and the joys of children, and yes those do all happen in one day but in the course you get to talk about them one at a time. Folks are talking about Christmas like it was just around the corner. Well I guess six weeks does make a significant comer, so I better get going and catch up with the world. Bye now, Betty G. Anvone with stories or news about the Brussels conununitv contact Bettv at 887-9231. arrived on Friday evening at approximately 8 p.m., met me here at school and we unpacked all the treats they had brought me. Then they signed me out for a weekend leave. My friends here love to hear Canadian people talk because they think we talk funny. They also think we live in igloos. We went to dinner and stayed at the Super 8 motel in Plymouth, Indiana. Saturday morning we did some shopping and then we went to Culver Academies for lunch at the dining hall. I felt they had to eat here to have a complete “Culver experience”. They had brought with them some warm, sunny weather, so I toured them around the campus for the afternoon and showed them through most of the buildings and we walked along Lake Maxinkuckee with no jackets on. 1 had to be at the rink at 4 p.m. for a 5 p.m. hockey game. Never say arena, because that means the horse bam here. I was so nervous because this was my first game. Since I wrote to you last time I have been on the injury list because of my foot. It has finally healed up and I received permission from the trainer to start back at hockey. I have been back practising for two weeks now, everyday. The JV (Junior Varsity) team has not been doing so well but we managed a 1-1 tie on Saturday. This was a big event for me because I actually had some fans in the stands. After hockey we went to dinner at Ponderosa and shopping until 11 p.m. We were all exhausted because of lack of sleep from the night before. One bathroom for five women, didn't work so well. Sorry we didn’t get that card game going, Crystal. The moon was sure bright from the window, wasn’t it Nicole? Sunday morning, they drove me back to Culver because I had a team brunch to attend and a hockey game at noon. We lost 2-0, I took 40 shots which included four breakaways. HELP WANTED Part-time Bartender required, 2 Saturdays per month. Drop off resume at Brussels Legion before November 26. After the game there was a sports banquet to attend. I had the honour of receiving a plaque for Most Improved during my volleyball season. Life is treating me very well here, they keep us very busy. Over the American Thanksgiving week I will be travelling with the Varsity team to a tournament in Madison, Wisconsin and one in Minnesota. Dec. 15, the team flies to Boston, Massachusetts for a tournament and from there, I will be home for the holidays. Can’t wait. I hope everything is going well in Brussels! I was glad to hear that everyone arrived home safely and hope you had as wonderful a weekend as I did. Yours Truly, Brook. Brook Wheeler, daughter of Gerry and Brenda is a student at Culver.
