After selling the farm, 26 years ago they moved to Blyth when Dan started working at Howson Mills. He retired in 1991. They raised three children Robert, Dale and Nancy and now have two grandchildren, Kevin and Carleigh Mclnnes, Dale's children. Anne enjoys researching family history, while Dan is an avid gar dener. Both are interested in the Horticultural Society. A large number of guests were on hand at the celebration, Satur day. Musical entertainment was provided in the afternoon. People attended from Stratford, Durham, Teeswater, Tara, Goderich, Luc know, Kinlough, Bradford, Guelph, Ottawa, Toronto, London, Blyth and surrounding area. (Vicky Bremnerphoto) Dan and Anne Mclnnes of Blyth celebrated 50 golden years of mar riage with family and friends at an open house in Blyth United Church on Saturday, Nov. 6. The former Anne Dixon married her groom at the United Church parsonage in Priceville. Rev. Lau rence Mould officiated. The couple was attended by Mae (Baker) Fuglsang, a friend of the bride and the late Wm. R. Mclnnes, the Kathy’s Korner By Kathy Bromley On Monday, Nov. I the weekly euchre party was held in Bainton’s Art Gallery. The high scores went to Evelyn Christensen (for the second week in a row) and Jean Nethery. The most Ione hands were earned by Jean Plaetzer and Charlie Bromley, while the low scores went to Effie McCall and Ruth Jardin. Everyone is welcome to attend the card party held every. Monday night at 8 p.m. in Blyth. After enjoying the beautiful weather beforehand, Tuesday, Nov. 2 reminded us of what can occur this time of the year. Due to the heavy downfall of heavy wet snow numerous school closures were announced on the radio. In our area we were very lucky that our hydro had not been effected as in Grey where they went without hydro for five days. The first night of lost heir was to be held on Wednesday, Nov. 3 but due to the nasty weather we had been experiencing it was cancelled. Plan to attend at the Art Gallery at 8 p.m. every Wednesday night for lost heir. SENIOR’S DINING PROGRAM On Friday, Nov. 6 Blyth Anglican Church hosted 37 people for the town and Country Homemakers monthly meal. A mouth watering luncheon made up of tender perch, oven roasted potatoes, french green beans, tossed salad was completed with “sunshine cake”. One meal was delivered. This month Effie McCall was the winner of the 50/50 draw, while Wallace Nicholson, a new participant was the winner for the door prize. In the month of November those who have birthdays are Leo Dyk, Graeme McDowell, John Blake, while Jake and Rene Hulzebos and Ted and Marjory East are celebrating anniversaries. Since Remembrance Day, Nov. 11 is just around the corner, the guest speaker was Comrade John Stewart from Blyth Legion Branch 420. His touching speech reminded everyone what the Legion represents and what they do for their community. The Legion is considered a service not a Social Club as many seem to think. Each year numerous hospitals and youth groups receive financial assistance from the Legion, as well as Town and Country Homemakers, Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke, to name a few. This is just the tip of the iceberg for what the Blyth Legion and Legion Ladies Auxiliary do for their community. The Remembrance Day Service will be held at Memorial Hall on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 10:45 a.m. with Pastor Les Cook officiating. If you are unable to attend, please take two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. in memory of those who fought for our country, as this will be the last Remembrance Day of the 20th Century. Leah Davis thanked John. The next and final meal of this century will be on Dec. 3 at the Anglican Church. Kathy’s Quote of the Week: If owls are so wise, how come they never get off the night shift?
