Morris approves lease for new Approval was given at the Oct. 19 session of Morris Twp. council, for the lease of the 2000 4x4 pickup truck from J.L. McCutcheon Motors Ltd., for the monthly price of $544.51. The truck will be commer­ cial dark green provided it can be received by the end of December. Turnberry council had previously approved the lease. A tender from George Radford Construction Ltd., for snow removal on Cone. 8 and 9 and adjoining sideroads was approved. The tender was valued at $51 per hour with $30 per day standby for the period Nov. 15 to March 31. Council passed a motion to accept a proposal from the County of Huron and Maitland Engineering Services for improvements to Grasby Drain Branch A. A proposed relief culvert for the branch would be relocated on the east side of County Rd. 4 A request for maintenance for the Hanna Drain, Lot 15 and 16, Cone. 6 was accepted. Drain Superintendent Gary Nicholson will clean the sand traps for Blyth Creek Drain. Other work will not be done until June, 2000. Council spoke with Chief Building Official Paul Josling about review­ ing building applications with coun­ cil prior to issuance of a permit. Josling said he had no problem reviewing liquid tanks with council. Any more large scale applications will be reviewed. Josling preferred this take place in closed session. There were no objections to a sign along County Rd. 86 for Bridge Motors. They will be advised to con­ tact the county for a permit. Road Superintendent Lloyd Michie will look into the reinstalla­ tion of gates at the airport. The planting of trees will be looked into as a millennium project. There were no objections to Carl Martin moving trees along the unopened road allowance at Lot 20/21, Cone. 1, for the purpose of erecting a fence. While Morris council had agreed early in the meeting to proceed with the joint Christmas party with Help protect the environment Reduce, reuse and recycle pickup Tumberry Twp. as planned, a phone call was received later in the session advising that the party was can­ celled. Morris supported a resolution from the Twp. of Baldwin regarding the preservation of the bear hunt. The December meetings will be held Dec. 9 and 21.
