Area students among Madill award recipients exhibited good school citizenship and contributed positively to the community through involvement in community activities. Rob McGee received the Wescast Industries Inc. award which is given to two college and two university students who are furthering their education in foundry-related technology or busi­ ness. The ABCD Award or the “Above and Beyond the Call of Duty” award, went to Phil Hiusser for the student who made a significant contribution to the school. Korey Bray was the recipient of the F.E. Madill Secondary School Teaching Staff Award for a deserv- Brussels Public School grads were recipients of the George Menzies Endowment Fund at F.E. Madill’s commencement on Friday night. Absent were Heather Douma, who is studying tourism and hotel management at Georgian College in Barrie and Jen Gowing, who is attending the University of Western Ontario in the science program. PMI is a worldwide certification board for the Project Management industry. Murray joins the ranks of over 12,000 PMP's worldwide located in over 25 countries. To obtain PMP certification an individual must satisfy education and experience requirements, agree to adhere to a code of ethics, and pass the PMP Certification examination. After all his courses and hard work, Murray has earned the right to carry the letters PMP designation after his name. Mr am of Local F. E. Madill Secondary School students took home numer­ ous awards after commencement ceremonies, Oct. 22. George Menzies Endowment Fund Awards for graduates of Brussels PS who have the highest averages of 11 senior courses that meet aiploma and post secondary admission requirements were given to Susan Black, Korey Bray, Amy Crawford, Jason Crawford, Heather Douma, Lesley Elliott, Malinda Exel and Jennifer Gowing. The Stephanie Lea Henry Memo­ rial Award for the Grade 12 student who is a graduate of Brussels Pub­ lic School and has contributed posi­ tively to the academic, social and extra-curricular life at Madill, was given to Nathan Garland. Proficiency awards were present­ ed to: Heather Black, Grade 9; Mike Cowan, Grade. 12 wood­ working; Heather Douma, Grade 12 family studies; Rachel McQuail, OAC biology and Christa Pegg, Remembering With the last Remembrance Day of the century soon approaching The Citizen would like to pay tribute to the special men and women from the area who served during the wars. Malinda Exel was awarded the Jeanne Oldfield Memorial Arts Scholarship for the Brussels PS graduate or resident having high academic standards who is continu­ ing their education in art, music or English. Cynthia De Wit earned the Friesen Yearbook Publisher’s Award for the graduating student who worked on the school year­ book and proceeding with further education. Cynthia and Christine De Wit earned the MacTavish award for merit, given to deserving graduates furthering their education at any post-secondary institution. Christa Pegg was awarded the Louise Patton Memorial Award. The winner of this award shows excellent overall achievement and resides in Bluevale or surrounding area.
