HEALTH Members of “nearly-famous” Dufflebag Theatre got the children involved when they performed Beauty and the Beast at Memorial Hall in Blyth last week. Students in kindergarten to Grade 7 from across the region were invited to the fun-filled production. Grades 8 and 9 students were in stitches with the company’s performance of Macbeth, Friday afternoon. Injecting the Shakespearean classic with their unique brand of comedy and improv, they created an unforgettable production, which included performances from several unsuspecting audience members. CALEIGH CLARK My name is Caleigh Clark and I turn one year old on Oct. 20. I have kept my parents (Shannon and Mike) very busy this past year. County library gets funding The Huron County Library sys tem had something to celebrate for Library Week. On Friday at the Exeter Library, Minister of Citizenship, Culture and Recreation with Responsibility for Seniors and Women’s Issues, Helen Johns, ammounced funding of $1 million for connectivity. This will help with the cost of linking rural areas to the rest of the province. According to Grey Twp. Reeve Robin Dunbar, a member of the county’s culture and social services committee, and vice-president of the Ontairo Libraries Trustee Asso ciation, rural areas have had to pay more for internet access to the main centre because of distance from these centres. “Connectivity will increase the speed at which the information will be provided as well as the number of lines a library can use.” Dunbar also told of a pilot pro ject study done by the Southern Ontario Library Service and Huron. "It shows the economic and social benefit of libraries to communities, as well as the impact their presence in a community has on retailers.” A copy of the report was given to Johns. “Libraries need to sell them selves,” said Dunbar. “They haven’t been into the business of public relations until now, but they are attempting to get out into the world and showing how important they are.” CNPJTO/ KEB TWIN CINE3MA Jackpot $500. on 54 calls Pot of Gold $500. on 55 calls Loonie Bin Atwood Lions Bingo every Thursday Doors open 6:30 p.m. Starts at 7:00 p.m. M| SURROUND SOUND STEREO^] LISTOWEL 291-3070 STARTS FRIDAY CINEMA 1 7&9-AA DOUBLEzJEOPARDY z■TOMMY LEE JONES, A ASHLEYJUDD -CINEMA 2 7 & 9 z THE SIXTH SENSE aa BRUCE WILLIS THURSDAY, OCT. 21, LAST NIGHT FOR AUSTIN POWERSH& JAKOB THE LIAR Happy 35th Wedding Anniversary Dad & Mom (Mac & Brenda Brooks) October 24, 1999 Love from your family FRESH HORSES (Garth Brooks Tribute) SAT., OCT. 23/99 8:00 PM TO 1:00 AM Seaforth & District Community Centres ADMISSION: $12.50/in advance $15.00/day of event Call For Tickets 527-1272 SPONSORED BY: Seaforth & District Community Centres, and Seaforth Minor Hockey Association Proceeds to a new ice resurfacer
