Feeding the masses They come by the hundreds, year after year, to enjoy the delicious home-cooked turkey din­ ner and support the community at the Belgrave Fowl Supper, held last Wednesday evening. Prepared by community residents the ambitious undertaking raises funds for the arena. WMS meets at D. Nethery’s Linda Meier and Barb Black were kept busy cutting hun­ dreds of delicious home-cooked pies for the huge crowd at Belgrave fowl supper, an annual community effort. The WMS held its meeting on Monday, Oct. 4 at the home of Dini Nethery. Alice Nicholson read a call to worship. Freda Scott led in prayer. Ivy Cloakey read two scrip­ tures and Alice led in prayer. Roll call was a thanksgiving poem or reading. Margaret Siertsema gave the sec­ retary’s report and Ivy Cloakey the treasurer’s report. Twenty-four sick and shut-in visits were recorded. Alice read a story on thankfulness. Marion Calder of Scarboro spent a week at Betty Irwin’s. While there they visited Muskoka for a couple of days and also visited with Beth Mauldin of Holyrood. Ashley Irwin of Ashfield Twp. recently spent a weekend at her grandmother’s Betty Irwin. Thanksgiving guests with Mabel Wheeler on Sunday were Mr and Mrs. H. Squires, Carsonville, ML; Mr. and Mrs. K. DePoy, Rachel and Andrew, Detroit, MI.; Miss Barbara Trigger and Bonnie her chauffeur, Carsonville, MI; Mrs. Mildred McAdam, Clinton; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Charter, Teeswater; Mr. and Mrs. G. An entrance Keith Elston was one of several volunteers who got the turkeys to the arena for over 1,000 hun­ gry diners to enjoy. Pathfinders farm By Kerri Meier On Oct. 7 the Belgrave Pathfinders visited the Meier farm, for a night full of chores. Milking started around 5:30 p.m. We all got a chance to wash and put milkers on the cows. Next we filled calf bottles and were off to the hutches to feed calves.
