Students will be enjoying a performance of Beauty and the Kathy’s Korner By Kathy Bromley On Friday, Oct. 1, the monthly Town and Country Homemakers luncheon was held in the Blyth Anglican Church. This month the attendance was great, with 48 people present, plus four meals were delivered. Leah Davis of Town and Country Homemakers began by saying grace. Then everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving meal of turkey with all the trimmings, finished off with pumpkin pie. This month, a new worker, Joe Prescott from Wingham was involved. Those celebrating birthdays in October are Maureen Bean, Mary Walden and Hank Dyke who was celebrating his birthday that day. Although there were no anniversaries for this month, special congratulations went out to Maurice and Maureen Bean of Auburn, who had celebrated their 50th anniversary last month, but had been absent at the last meal. Vera Badley was the winner of the door prize, while Mrs. Hank Dyke won the 50/50 draw. Toe-tapping entertainment followed the meal, with Dorothy and Harold Steffler of Brussels, along with Harvey McDowell of Blyth. It was great to see Harvey involved, as he had a stroke last December. He definitely proved that he is getting to be “as fit as a fiddle” again! Plan to attend the Nov. 5 luncheon. We hope to have guest speakers in recognition of “Remembrance Day” and reminding us what the Legion and Legion Ladies Auxiliary represent. Kathy’s Quote of the Week: Even though turkey is considered “fowl” language, reminding someone to “stuff it” makes it seem even worse!
