Brussels Livestock report Scherurwater beef veal reaches $136 Total receipts at Brussels Livestock for the week ending Sept. 10 were 3.002 head of cattle, and 434 lambs and 35 goats. Fed steers and heifers sold on a steady trade. Cows were also selling steady. On Thursday veal sold on a strong active trade. Lambs sold steady. On Friday all weights of stockers sold at prices steady to last week. There were 294 fed steers on offer selling from $89 to $94 to the high of $109. One blonde steer consigned by Walter Riddell Granton, weighing 1,250 lbs. purchased by Norwich Packers for $105.75 with his overall offering of ten steers averaging 1,308 lbs. selling for an average of $95.49. One limousin steer consigned by Murray Shiell, Wingham, weighing 1,365 lbs. sold to Norwich Packers for $99.25 with his overall offering of twenty-six steers averaging 1,435 lbs. selling for an average of $91.53. Eighteen steers consigned by F arm Huron IPM to unveil larger-than-life murals The premier showing and limited preview of the Huron IPM ’99 Agricultural and Tourism Showcase will be held for exhibition sponsors, partners and committee members at the IPM ’99 site, Monday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. Highlight of the preview will be the unveiling of three larger-than-life size murals depicting aspects of life and heritage in Huron County. The focal point will be an 8' x 40’ painting, by mural artist Allen Hilgendorf, depicting the 100-year history of plowing matches in Huron County. The impressive painting will form the backdrop for an intricate mosaic display of Huron County seeds and produce, painstakingly organized using millions of seeds and other produce crops from across the regions to present a giant, full colour Fair for 4-H Continued from page 14 Show on Oct. 15, 1999 at the Walkerton Little Royal Fair. “It is a great opportunity for 4-H members to exhibit their livestock at a larger show before the end of the showing season” said Ken Schlorff, 5A regional director for 4- H and show co-ordinator. “4-H members participating at the Royal Winter Fair this fall can also use the show as a good warm up to the Toronto show.” Classes are open to all breeds of beef, dairy and sh£ep from any county in Ontario. Ten steers consigned by ‘produce’ quilt featuring the IPM ’99 logo as the centre of a 40 foot, patchwork antique quilt design. County Showcase Committee Chair, Allan Carter, of Seaforth, will host the event. Carter said, “The exhibition and showcase will be a first of its kind in the history of IPM. The presentation will provide visitors with an opportunity to stroll through a meandering pathway which illustrates the life and times of agriculture and tourism in Huron County.” The artwork, by Chatsworth artist, Allen Hilgendorf, will be preserved for future generations and displayed in Huron County at locations including the Huron County Museum.
