SENIOR DINING CLUB
On Friday, Sept. 3 a record-breaking attendance of 42 people were present
for the monthly luncheon at Blyth Anglican Church. Leah Davis of Town
and Country Homemakers welcomed everyone to the delicious meal of ham.
scalloped potatoes., com. coleslaw along with delicious peach pie with ice
cream. Adrian Vos and Vera Badley delivered one meal.
Following the meal. Happy Birthday was sung to those celebrating in the
month of September which included Edgar Howatt. Jean Nethery and the
guest for the day. Bernice Glenn of Dungannon. Happy anniversary was
also sung to Bill and Isabel Craig for their 49th anniversary, wh'le special
recognition was given to Mary Walden, as her and Lloyd would have been
celebrating their 61 st anniversary on that day, had he still been with us.
Bernice Glenn has been well known throughout Huron County for years
as a Tupperware dealer. Now she is also selling beautiful clothes called:
Optioneile Fashions. From the audience, Jean Plaetzer, Jean Nethery and
Kathy Bromley were asked to be models to promote the clothing. They were
very comfortable and lovely, to say the least.
This month the winner of the 50/50 draw was Bernice McClinchey, while
Marian Haggitt of Auburn was the recipient of the door prize.
A reminder that next month Thanksgiving will be celebrated with music
being provided by Darlene VanderVeen and Debbie Siertsema. All seniors
are welcome to attend, but call Lenora Davidson at 523-4442 so we can
estimate how many will be present.
***
Being as it was the last long weekend prior to the reopening of schools,
everyone took advantage of it. Mother nature co-operated with the beautiful
weather as fall is just around the corner, along with the rain early in the
week. This is definitely needed and hopefully it will be over by this
weekend.
A reminder to our readers that this weekend is the annual Thresher’s
Reunion, which is being hosted for the 38th year in Blyth.
Try to keep in mind that Londesboro-“A Few Good Men” are hosting a
co-ed ball tournament during this weekend. It will officially be opened on
Friday night by John Davidson of London, prior to the game with the
CKNX Tryhards. The money raised goes to “Jesse’s Journey” to help find a
cure for Muscular Dystrophy.
If you wish to make a donation but are unable to attend due to the other
activities going on in Blyth, please don’t hesitate to call me at 523-4497 and
I will ensure it gets there, as I will be involved in memory of my brother.
Receipts will be available upon request.
Kathy’s Quote of the Week: Ever notice that the Jolly Green Giant stands
around laughing his head off, while the little people do all the work?
