Season ends well
for Brussels U-9s
The 1999 soccer season has come
to an end. The U-9 Is ended their
season in a great soccer
tournament, hosted by Brussels.
On Monday evening Brussels
travelled to Palmerston. Unsure of
their opponent Palmerston quickly
took a two-goal leaj. Brussels
managed to hold the offensive but
was unable to get on the
scoreboard. They were handed a
loss and were determined to play
hard on Saturday.
Saturday morning things went
their way, as they came up against
Listowel. Team work and great
passing skills got them a win.
Defensive strategies kept Listowel
scoreless. Taylor Prior and Ben
Baker, Prior, William King, Ryan
Jutzi, Thomas Cronin, Gowing,
David Pethick, Taylor Runstedler,
Janelle Bondi, Jessica Berlet-
Kuntz, Danica Zwep, Kari Bell and
Nicholas Durrell.
Coaches Donna Prior and Jacquie
Gowing said “We would like to
thank the Brussels U-9 squad for a
great season. We hope you learned
some skills and had an enjoyable
summer. Also a big thank you to
the parents who faithfully manage
to get their child to practice and
games. It takes effort on everyone’s
part to make a soccer season
successful. Hope to see you all next
year.”

baseman during their match-up on Saturday at noon during the Huron County Men’s
Fastball League playoff tournament held in Brussels. The Brewers came out ahead of the
game, however, and later met the hometown Tigers in a double knockout.
Gowing scored for Brussels.
A short break then the squad was
on the field for game two. Meeting
up with the Drayton squad made
this soccer game a little more
challenging. It was a tough game
and Drayton had the edge. Gowing
managed to get two through the
post but unfortunately time ran out
and the team was handed a 4-2 loss.
