The Citizen, 1999-09-01, Page 6PAGE 6. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1,1999. Letters to the editor Hospital treatment angers young mom THE EDITOR, In January, there was a letter to the editor in regard to patient confidentiality in a particular local hospital - the same hospital that after three weeks had not sent my son’s records to his new doctor (apparently because they were short-staffed and things were done in a “matter of importance”.) However, another person’s release Few Good Men host tournament THE EDITOR, The purpose of this letter is to inform both you and your readers on an event that “A Few Good Men” (a baseball team from Londesboro) will be hosting this year in Londesboro and Auburn on the weekend of Sept. 10 - 12. For the past four years our team, with the generous support of various local businesses and members of the community, has hosted a charity baseball tournament at the Londesboro and Auburn ball diamonds. This year, we will be donating the proceeds from this event to Jesse's Journey. 1 know that many local residents will recall how John Davidson recently pushed his son (who is wheelchair bound due to Muscular Dystrophy) across Ontario to help raise money for gene and cell therapy. John then continued his walk across Canada to further raise awareness. As a continuation of John’s efforts and as part of the opening festivities, “A Few Good Men” will be playing the “CKNX Tryhards” on Friday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. in Londesboro. In addition, I am also pleased to announce that John Davidson form (with no ill health), was signed and given to the receptionist at the same time and was already at the new doctor’s a week before I called to see where my son's records were. I agree, a sick person should be taken care of promptly, but it’s the “matter of importance” stated by a receptionist (who does not have the authority to say who’s health is or (Jesse Davidson’s father) will be on hand to throw out the first pitch of the tournament. On behalf of “A Few Good Men,” I would like to invite you and your readers to come out and enjoy this game. In addition I would also like to point out that this is a weekend event and the invitation stands from Friday to Sunday. Executive director clarifies Continued from page 4 the people who have supported our fight with the county over this exor bitant rent increase, to think that the issue has been resolved. We have had absolutely no contact with county administration since the council meeting of July 8, when a recom mendation was made to set up a meeting with the Ministry of Health and our agency to discuss the impasse. This issue has NOT gone away. We are still operating under the cloud of possible eviction for alleged non-payment of rent. However, because we are deeply concerned for the clients and care- is not important), and the staff’s attitude when I’ve called that prompted me to write. If this hospital's staff believe their patients are “important”, then why did my son endure absolute hell for several months before we demanded a specialist see him? We feel the medical staff in this local hospital treated his condition as a joke and us, as incompetent Please note that the games will run from approximately 8 a.m. - 11 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Sunday. It should also be noted that we plan to run a home-run-derby at noon on Saturday. Everyone is welcome. I have contacted the Huron Real Estate Board, as well as Town and Country Support Services, with a view to hav ing a plan in place, in the eventuality that we are indeed, forced out of our present location. Let us hope that county council reconsiders its position and does NOT allow this to happen. And if our instincts were just “first time” parents, then why did a specialist and a surgeon (whom he will continue to see), find his medical problem so quickly? Oh, and let’s not forget to mention the doctor who said that since he had screamed and cried from birth, that “he was bom with a disposition”. Reeve believes union will make both municipalities stronger Continued from page 1 tion will make the two municipalities stronger down the road as they have a lot in common. In answering concerns about debts being brought, forward, Miller said the Dungannon drain works had been paid in the spring and neither town ship was carrying any debt. When asked about bylaws regard ing pig operations, Miller said all Add years to your life and life to your years! 30 minutes of daily physical activity not only add up to living longer, they add up to living better. paRTicipacrion There was one doctor, however, who sympathized and tried to understand the situation, but we understand it wasn't all up to him. Thank heaven's a few still care. As for the patient confidentiality mentioned, I also experienced this from the same hospital. Funny isn’t it, that they don’t want to be bothered with you at the hospital, yet you're “important” enough to be talked about when you leave?
