Lambs sell $2-$5 higher, under 50 lbs. hit $200
Total receipts at Brussels
Livestock for the week ending Aug.
20 were 2.340 head of cattle. 433
lambs and 47 goats.

The fed steers and heifers sold on
a steady market. Cows sold $1 to
$2 lower. On Thursday, veal sold
$2 higher with lambs selling $2 to
$5 higher. On Friday Stocker calves
sold steady with the yearlings
selling $ I to $2 higher.
There were 4 18 fed steers on
offer selling from $89 to $94 to the
high of $100. One black steer
consigned by Allan Rundle, Exeter,
weighing 1,250 lbs. sold to
Dominion Meat Packers for $100
with his overall offering of thirty-
three steers averaging 1,341 lbs.
selling for an average of $93.78.
One limousin steer consigned by
Doug Shiell, Wingham, weighing
1,465 lbs. sold to Norwich Packers
for $99 with his overall offering of
eighteen steers averaging 1,438 lbs.

Locals place in judging contest
The annual Huron County 4-H
Judging Competition was held
Tuesday, Aug. 10 at the Seaforth
Fairgrounds.
Over 100 4-H members
participated, judging nine classes,
giving reasons on four classes, and
answering a quiz on all aspects of
4-H.
The top winners were: top
lbs. sold for $96.75. Ten steers
consigned by Walter Riddel,
Granton, averaging 1,343 lbs. sold
for an average’of $94.28 with sales
to $98. Twelve steers consigned by
Schmidt Brook Farms Inc.,
Woodstock, averaging 1,415 lbs.
sold for an average of $93.44 with
sales to $98. Thirty-six steers
consigned by D. M. McAlpine
Farms, Ailsa Craig, averaging
1,390 lbs. sold for an average of
$92.14 with sales to $95.
Fifty-two steers consigned by
