OPP investigate 2 collisions in Howick Twp, On Aug. 15 at approximately 7:15 p.m. two vehicles collided on County Rd. 12 about one km. north of Wroxeter. Police said a 1989 Chev Celebrity driven by Tanya Lorentz, 24, of Kitchener was southbound when it passed over the centerline into the path of the northbound vehicle. She received major injuries and was transported to Wingham and District Hospital by ambulance was later transferred to London Victoria Hospital in critical condition. A passenger Owen Riegling, one, of Kitchener was taken to hospital, checked over and released to his parents. The other driver Sanford Bender, 54, of Wroxeter was driving a 1988 Ford motorhome. He received no injuries. The Wingham Fire Department attended the scene and assisted in extricating Lorentz from the vehicle. The OPP technical traffic investigator was called to reconstruct the collision. The OPP are still investigating the collision and appreciate any assistance the public can give. Anyone who saw the collision or came across the vehicles before or just after the collision is asked to contact the Huron OPP Detachment at 1-519-524-8314 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8417. On Aug. 11 around 12:45 a.m. a single vehicle collision occurred on County Rd. 28 approximately one- half km. from County Rd. 34 in Howick Twp. A 1991 Lincoln driven by Susan Hubbard, 31, of Gorrie was southbound on County Rd. 25 when she hit the loose gravel on the west side of the road. The vehicle went out of control skidding across the roadway and rolled over in the ditch on the east side of the road. Hubbard received minor injuries and was taken to Listowel Hospital by ambulance for treatment. Items stolen at motocross races On Aug. 14 around 5 p.m. a Security Company officer working at the motocross event in Walton reported a theft occurring at a tent inside the grounds. The owner of a company called Two Wheel Motorsport told investigating officers that sometime after 10:30 p.m. the previous night and that morning at 7 a.m. a display tent was entered and several items were stolen. Taken were a shift gear bag, four hats, two furious t- shirts, two Fox jerseys, three Shift jerseys, six movies, four pair of Fox gloves, two kid jerseys and 2 Clubs stolen A set of golf clubs was stolen from the men’s locker room at Wingham Golf and Curling Club, Cone. 1 Morris Twp. The manager advised the OPP, Aug 11, that a person entered a storage closet for members and stole a set of Assault clubs, and golf bag which included a complete set of irons, two graphite woods, ping putter, three golf gloves and a dozen Wilson staff balls. The clubs and equipment have a replacement value of $2,500. Anyone who can help the police in finding the culprit or recovering the items are asked to call Huron OPP detachment or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. Shift pairs of cargo pants along with a 1998 Haro Cozmo trick bike chrome in colour with blue decals. The theft is valued at over $2,700 and police would like the help of the public in finding the stolen items and bringing the thieves to justice. Thief takes ballpark lights A thief with no fear of heights struck in Bluevale in early August when three 1,000-watt metallic light bulbs were stolen from the ball park. Reported Aug. 10, ballpark offi­ cials told the OPP the lights were taken sometime between Aug. 3 and Aug. 6. The OPP said the lights were val­ ued at over $500 to replace and are ideal for use in starting marijuana seedlings. Anyone with information is asked to call the local OPP or Crimestoppers. * Head over heels Over the hill first, Jeff Coles, 669, had to keep his speed up as he was followed closely by another rider in the 125- class heats when they competed at the Snappie TransCan National Motocross Championships in Walton last weekend. Tens of thousands of visitors and competitors converged on the small community for the four-day event held at the Lee farm.
