MedicAlert speaks for you
According to health experts, the
biggest threat to health while
travelling is not a rare disease from
an exotic destination, but a flare-up
of an existing medical condition.
That is why medical information
services provided by the Cana'd-iaYi
MedicAlert Foundation are so
important to people who travel. If
you were unable to speak for
yourself in the event of a medical
emergency, MedicAlerl's
universally recognized bracelet or
necklet could speak for you. One
ca^J to its toll-free emergency
hotline, available in 140 languages,
gives first responders and
healthcare professionals access to a
centralized database containing
your up-to-date medical
information and personal contacts,
anywhere in the world, 24 hours a
day.
MedicAlert members enjoy the
safely and security of knowing, in
an emergency, if they can't speak
for themselves or don't speak the
language MedicAlert will speak for
them.
Whether travelling within
Canada or leaving for a warm
winter holiday, people should take
all the necessary precautions to
protect their health. Before leaving,
schedule a visit to a physician.
Obtain all necessary prescriptions,
documentation and medical care.
Plan for enough medication to
cover one week longer than the
expected duration of the trip, and
keep it in its original package.
Anyone with a heart condition,
should ask their physician for a
copy of their most recent
electrocardiogram (ECG).
And, if planning a trip to an
exotic destination, receive any
necessary vaccinations.
People with a medical condition,
drug or food allergy, special need,
personal medical request or
medication that should be known in
an emergency, should consider

The involved vehicle likely
