Obituaries CARMAN ALBERT GWYN Carman Albert Gwyn of Blyth passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, July 5, 1999 in his 69th year. He was the beloved husband of Ella McLean Alcock Gwyn and the late Dorothy Blake. He was the dear stepfather to Louise and Paul Haggitt of RRI, Exeter and very dear grandpa to Natasha Haggitt. He was a dear brother to Helena Young and Frank Williams of Vanastra and Arnold Gwyn of Tillsonburg and brother-in-law to Mrs. Freda Hooker and her family of London, and Elwood and Mary Blake and their family of Hespeler. He will also be remembered by many McLean nieces and nephews. Carman was the very special friend of John and Tina Claus of Blyth and Wilmer and Marie Giousher of Londesboro. He was predeceased by his father, Dave Gwyn and mother, Jessie McCullough and three brothers Fergus, Ross and Walter. Friends were received at the Beattie-Falconer Funeral Home “Tasker Chapel”, Blyth on Wednesday, July 7 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. after which the funeral service was held. Rev. Cecil Wittich officiated. Interment was in Blyth Union Cemetery with Rev. Keith Stokes assisting Rev. Wittich. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Blyth United Church, Community Nursing Services and to the Huron Pioneer Threshers Association of which Carman was a member for 38 years are appreciated as expressions of sympathy. WILLIAM GRAHAM LAMONT W. Graham Lamont of Brussels passed away at Seaforth Community Hospital on Sunday, July 11, 1999. He was in his 73rd year. Born in Grey Twp. on Feb. 14, 1927, Mr. Lamont was the son of the late Hugh and Mary Lamont and the beloved husband of the former Gertrude Alcock. After marriage, Graham and Gertrude moved to Toronto where Graham was employed with Dominion Stores. Later, they moved to Clifford where Graham had his own store until failing health caused him to retire. Mr. Lamont will be sadly missed by his wife Gertrude, his stepdaughter Susan Heron and her husband Paul of Port Dover, his brother Jim Lamont and his wife Doris of London, his sister Shirley Verstoep and her husband Adrian of Monkton, his sister-in-law Jean Storey of Sebringville and brother- in-law George Seip of Clifford. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Leonard, sister Doreen Seip and infant brother Allan Ross. A memorial service was conducted in the Chapel of Huronlea Home for the Aged, Brussels on Saturday, July 17 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lynn Nichol officiating. Jim Lamont gave a eulogy paying tribute to his brother. Hymns sung were Abide With Me and Blest Be the Tie That Binds accompanied by Mrs. Grace Jutzi at the piano. Following the service, friends were invited to stay for a reception put on by the Huronlea Home for the Aged Auxiliary. Mr. Lamont’s cremated remains were interred in Brussels Cemetery at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Huronlea Home for the Aged. Schimanski Family Funeral Home, Brussels was entrusted with the arrangements. SARAH “MAE” (CARNOCHAN) ROCK Sarah “Mae” (Carnochan) Rock passed away at Seaforth Manor Retirement Home on Friday, July 16, 1999 in her 86th year. She was the beloved mother of Jean Kellar of Zurich, Oraen of Ripley, Donald of Kincardine, Lloyd of Waterloo, John of London and Earl of Walton. She will be fondly remembered by 16 grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Pearl Shaw, of Brussels and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rock was predeceased by her husband, Arthur C. Rock in 1972, son, Melvin in 1986, parents John and Annie (Michel) Carnochan, and her brothers, Melvin and George. At Mrs. Rock’s request, there was no funeral home visitation. A private funeral service was held on Monday, July 19, at 2 p.m. at the Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, Seaforth. Rev. Judith Springett officiated, assisted by Mr. Fred Munnings. Interment was at Brussels Cemetery. Pallbearers were sons, Oraen, Donald, Lloyd, John and Earl, together with Elliott (Pal) Somers. Flowerbearers were grand­ daughters, Rose Broome, Susie Craven and Christine Rock. Organist was Carol LeBeau. Memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
