Health guide
aids activity
People can gain significant health
benefits by building physical
activity into their daily routine and
they don't have to "sweat it” to reap
the rewards.
The new Physical Activity
Guide to Healthy Active Living
was recently released by Health
Canada and provides residents of
Huron County with clear guidelines
on how to achieve better health by
making physical activity an
important part of daily living. It
provides solutions to physical
inactivity, which caused 25 percent
of all deaths due to heart disease in
1993.
The new guide is aimed at
helping inactive and less active
people to take steps towards a more
active, healthy lifestyle. Two out of
every three Canadians are risking
their health and quality of life by
not being active enough.
The guide suggests that physical
activity doesn't have to be
strenuous to improve your health.
Fitness and heart can be improved
by doing light activity for 10
minuie periods and add them up for
an hour's worth of activity each
da^. Activities such as walking to
the store, stretching and playing
catch with your children are all
good ways to stay healthy and
become more physically active at
home, at work and during your
leisure time.
Anyone already doing some light
activity, can move up to moderate
activities like brisk walking, raking
leaves, dancing and aerobics. As
they progress to moderate
activities, they can cut down to 30
minutes, four days a week.
A little activity is good but more
is even better to achieve health
benefits.
To obtain a free copy of the new
Physical Activity Guide or for
more information on active
community events, call your local
recreation department or Healthy
Lifestyles Team, Huron County
Health Unit at 482-3416 or 1-800-
265-5184.

Imagine you had a
sales staff calling on
2000 homes a week
That’s what you get when you advertise in The
Citizen. Every week your message, whether a tiny
classified, or a fuli page ad, goes to more than
2000 homes in North Huron ... and unlike many
salespeople, we're welcomed inside. What's
more, we're often asked to stick around for a
whole week.
If you’re not taking advantage of this opportunity
to tell people about your business call today.
Put your sales staff to work for you. Call:
