East Wawanosh Public School Be humble enough to obey, you may give orders someday J By Michelle Nixon “Don’t let your parents down; they brought you up. Be humble enough to obey; you may give orders someday. Choose compan ions with care; you become what they are.” The nine years that I have been in this school many people have come and gone and over the years many things have happened that are now forgotten. What my classmates and I remember today we will remember always. Many parents think that in kinder garten we only leam our a,b,cs and our l,2,3s but that is not completely true. Mrs. Wilson was one of my favourite teachers, mainly because kindergarten was fun. Many of us learned to tie our shoes. Our parents think they taught us how. We smart little kindergarten kids just let them think so, but really the “brain” behind this was Scott. He was the tie-our-shoe teacher in kindergarten. In Grade l we had something called “The Brown Chair.” If you had a chance to be the leader you felt so much higher than the rest of the class. We had Mrs. Bridges that year. I think that was the only year when Paul got along great with a teacher. The stain from the chocolate pudding is still on the ceiling to this day. Mrs. Hessels was our teacher in Grade 2 and 4. There was always a big red bottle on the wall that said “ketchup”. Of course a lot of our names were up there every day because we always had to catch up on our work. Kids could not wait until it was their birthday because they got to pick out of the big brown box. It was secret and different toys were always added. We also did the air band Monster Mash. I have to admit Leanne played her part well. She was a great witch. Jenni joined us that year and I will always remember the first day when she wore her pink overalls and her flowered shirt. Krista also came into our class that year and right away everyone knew she was an artist. Our Grade 3 teacher was Miss Mathers. That year we had a split class. Jeremy and Jacquie joined our class. We learned how to write and realized it was one of the harder grades we had faced yet. Grade 5 was our first year on the senior side, and it was scary for some people because we had to use big peoples’ washrooms as we would say. Mr. Kerr was our teacher and we never forgot what our names were after that year, or next, espe cially Jeremy because if you forgot to write your name on a paper you had to write it out 20 times. Sherri came.that year. We went on our trip to Toronto to see Joseph, the play that we also Continued on page 20 Wishing you all a healthy, happy future 357-3466 222 Josephine St., Wingham Congratulations 8L Best Wishes from all the staff at The Grand View Restauarnt & Gas Bar Blyth 523-4471 i WE SALUTE YOU GRADUATES OF 1000 5 CONGRATULATIONS GRADS!
