Gratefully accepting the donation The Brussels Lions Club and Brussels Optimists each received $2,750 as part of Grey Twp.’s allocation of the Advance Funding Program of the Ontario Lottery Corporation. With those monies, the Lions, represented by John Exel, left, presented Jane Stewart of Ethel Minor Ball, second from left, a cheque for improvements to the park and to Vai Shortreed of Walton Area Sports Club for the Walton park. Bruce Armstrong of the Optimists presented donations to both women for the respective parks. To start, the St. John Ambulance sponsored blood donor clinic collected 84 units of blood. Thank you on behalf of all the folk who will benefit from your generosity. The Schimanski girls were doing their stuff at the Embro Games on Canada Day - Elli danced in the seven and under class and placed fourth and fifth in all three of her dances. Ami danced in the beginner class and did her fling to two firsts and one second. She received the trophy for her age group and is now in the novice class. Way to go girls! If Clem and Phyllis Steffler appear to have a permanent grin on their faces it’s because they have ALL their children and grandchildren in one spot. Not since 1989 have they all been together so the celebrations have been wonderful. Isn’t that great' The board at the 5Rs is asking you to give them a call if you would like pick-up service. Two out-of-town agencies are making frequent calls to Brussels asking for donations. If you would like pick-up service call 887- 9072. July 21 is the possible date. Kids Korner registrations are available now from all the churches. Be sure to register so we can be prepared. It’s 1 - 4 p.m. Aug. 9-13. Be sure to get your tickets to Blyth theatre. The first two plays are excellent - totally different, but equally enjoyable. By Bonnie Gropp Citizen staff Murray Cardiff attended the July 5 meeting of Brussels council to ask their support in getting the county to study single-tier govern­ ment. Cardiff, representing the Con­ cerned Citizens for the Promotion and Implementation of a single Tier-Government in Huron, said that while the group applauded the municipal councils efforts regard­ ing restructuring thus far, they felt that all options should be studied more closely.
