They al! lined up and each student read a line of the class co-operative poem they had written called, “Virtues”. The graduation class sang / Believe I Can Fly and a video that Mrs. Haney had put together for the students was then watched. It was a video of memorable moments. Then Mrs. McDowell called each student forward and after giving a brief description of each child, Mrs. Haney handed them their certificates. Murray Lion was there to present the Shirley Lyon Memorial Award to Laura Elligsen and Mrs. McDowell presented the principal’s award for student leadership to Scott Somerville. Mrs. McDowell then gave the closing remarks. Taken from the book Everything 1 Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. Alice reworded some of it and called her remarks, ‘All I really need to know I learned at Walton Public School.’ She said, ‘When you go out in the world, watch for traffic, hold hands and stick together. Then remember the Catch a Rainbow books and the first word you learned - the biggest word of all - LOOK.’ A special cake for the Grade 4s and juice was served at the conclusion of the program.
