Blyth got off to a great start when Erin Moore and Justin Ritchie each hit triples. Singles from Nick Dale and Ashley Cook added to the three-run inning. However, Colbome would not be out-hit as a grand slam vaulted them into the lead. Blyth continued the attack, hit ting several singles and taking walks in the second. Dickey Gregg smashed a triple. In the third, singles were tapped by Lisa Nicholson, Kendall Whit field and Michele Bakkelar. Ritchie added a double. Adam deBoer belted a triple before Ritchie added to the total with a grand slam. Ben Walsh made a great defen sive play on first to get a Colbome player out. The game ended when Katie McClinchey got a player out who Lightning struck down was trying to go to second. Blyth won 19-11. Moore and Gregg pitched. On June 17, Stanley Twp. handed the team a loss on home turf. Stanley Twp. kicked it into high gear with a grand slam in the first then held Blyth to two runs. The visitors added another four- run round-tripper in the second. Whitfield made a nice defensive play when she tagged a fly ball. Dale and deBoer tapped singles in the bottom of the inning. Stanley Twp. continued to rack up points through the third and Blyth was held of the board. Dale singled in the fourth to round out Blyth hitting. They took the 21-6 loss. It has been a hard June for the Blyth Lightning as they have suf fered two losses and a tie. They met the Lucknow Ti-Cats, June 2, coming away with a 2-2 tie. Josh deGans scored in the first half off a penalty kick and Krysto- pher Campbell added one in the second. Jacob Rouw earned the assist. Zack Wood was in net for Blyth. The following week, Blyth wel comed the Lucknow Lancers to town, but were shut out 1-0. Mark McCracken was in net. It was another shut out for the opponent when Blyth travelled to Clinton, June 16. The Pylons scored five while keeping Blyth of the board. deGans worked between the posts. Selecting her choices Chantal Hubbard-Warwick was among the many visitors who stopped by the Blyth Legion late last week to take a chance on winning a prize at their annual penny sale.
