Walton pupils visit Shayrina Continued from page 13 400-metre. Andrea VanderVeen got fourth in the standing long jump and Nicole Williamson got third in the 100- metre. On Friday the Early Year students and Grade 1/2 had a wonderful trip to Shayrina Sheep Farm owned by Kevin and Jacquie Bishop of RR 2, Bluevale. They got to see 15 breeds of sheep displayed on a stage in their shed. Each r-am entered and went to stand in its place for the students to see the differences in the breeds. They rotated through groups which included a craft and explanation of the process of wool making, feeding the flock of sheep at a rail fence and a pony ride. As well the children were able to pet the llama, goats, pot-bellied pig, bunnies, dogs and bottle feed lambs and a calf. The Bishops had arranged games for the children after the tour. Grade 2/3s were busy working at their garden this week. They are proud to say that everything they planted is growing. They have all been busy with their reading and writing and are finishing up their math unit on mass measurement. Grade 3/4s made some very lovely farm silhouettes and are learning a song for the Grade 4 appreciation day. They watched a video about habitat and talked about the different places that could be used for habitats.
