People are made over by makeup experts or hair stylists. B-ut no matter how wonderful they look and have been transformed they are still the same person inside. “When we do seek out the new it is important that we don’t forget the past, the old. If we abandon the School news Out of the 11 Walton students that went on to the track and field meet in Seaforth where seven schools competed, Jamie Reinink placed fifth in the 400-metre, third in the 200-metre and sixth in the 100-metre. In the readings Abraham was called to make-over his life and start anew in the promised land.” It is only when we integrate the old with the new, that we become a complete person. It is only when we make peace with our past, and include it in our present, that we can be fully open to all that the future has to offer us, and make the make-over into a real and lasting change for the better.” Abraham was made over from a foreigner and a stranger, into being the founder of a new people, and a new way of faith. Matthew was made over from being a worldly tax collector, to being a disciple, one who build’s God’s holy realm on earth. “We can be made over,” said Rev. Murray. “We do this by maintaining the old, and integrating it with the new. By trusting in the power of the Holy Spirit, we can become all we want to be.” HURON CHAPEL EVANGELICAL MISSIONARY CHURCH Auburn - 526-7555 PASTOR DAVE WOOD - 523-9017 ASSOCIATE PASTOR - YOUTH - JEREMY SHUART 523-9788 Sunday 8:45 a.m.- Morning Worship Service 10:00 a.m.- Family Bible Hour 11 a.m.- Morning Worship Service 8 p.m.- Evening Service Wednesday 7:30 p.m.- Prayer & Bible Study Friday 7:30 p.m.- Youth Cornerstone Bible Communion - 9:45 - 10:30 Family Bible Hour and Sunday School 11:00- 12:00 Prayer & Bible Study Tuesday 8 p.m. Ethel John 14:6 - Jesus said, "I am the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE, no one comes to the Father, but through Me." Everyone Welcome For more information call 887-6665 On Sunday, May 30, Brussels Mennonite Fellowship was bursting for more space as many relatives and friends came to witness the baby dedication of Megan Catharine Siemon, bom on Dec. 11, 1998. Her parents Paul and Barbara plus her brother Michael and sister Melissa participated in a ceremony performed by Pastor Ben Wiebe. Little Megan was attentive and curious but not disturbed when Pastor Wiebe took her in his arms and blessed her. Ashley Keffer, a special friend of the family, sang a lovely song. Pastor Wiebe spoke about this life in anticipation of eternal life. Good weather, bargains at yard sales It was garage sale weekend in town this past Saturday with sales being down somewhat this year. But the weather was beautiful and those who came out got some pretty good bargains. Leona and Karen McDonald and Maxine Marks travelled to Calgary. Maxine stayed with her son. Neil McDonald from Vancouver arrived Thursday night. Friday they travelled to Lethbridge for the graduation ceremonies of Michael Warwick. A dinner was held Friday evening and a barbecue after the ceremonies on Saturday. They travelled back to Calgary on Sunday where Karen stayed with her daughter Kendra. They then went back to Olds where she lived 15 years. Maxine and Leona went by bus to Saskatchewan to visit friends. Some of them have just finished seeding and some will never get their crop in. There is lots of rain and water everywhere. The group arrived back home on the weekend. “Sometimes we live as if this life was the all important thing,” he said. But Jesus in Mark 8 talks about losing one’s life in order to gain one’s life. II Cor. 4: 16-18 encourages people to look beyond the present things that they treasure, and live for those things that have eternal value. Rev. 21: 1-5 speaks of the eternal joy to be experienced dwelling with God. This special time thinking about the precious life of little Megan was an appropriate time to reflect on both birth and imminent death.
