Holland folk visit
Receiving recognition
It was a proud day for students at Grey Central Public school when they received copies of
the Alzheimer Society calendar which features their drawings. The winning artists are, in
back, from left: Dan Adams and Jeff Speiran. In front, from left: VON and member of the
board of directors, Teresa Rice, Francis Deitner, Crystal Stewart and Cathy Ritsema, the
chapter co-ordinatior for the Alzheimer Society of Huron County. Nikki Van de Walle also
had a picture included. The other six months were covered by the children of St. Columban
Separate School. The calendars will promote Alzheimer awareness. They can be purchased
at the society office in Clinton.
Karel Unger and Axel Van
Wieringen arrived in Cranbrook
from Amstelveen in Holland to see
the restorations made to the old
Cranbrook store building. Two
years ago on another visit, they had
taken great interest in the building
and since then made its restoration
possible.
This visit they also were shown
Goderich, the salt mine and the
small private zoo of ruminants in
Nile. They had a very satisfying
visit with Marion Hagedoorn,
Theresa O’Aoust, Sister Felicitas
and Peter Hagedoorn, and met
many of the neighbours.
A community shower will be
held at the Cranbrook Community
Hall on Wednesday, June 16 for
Jennifer Vanass.
