A little elbow grease Mrs. Hulley’s Grade 7/8 class from Blyth Public School put in some hard labour Friday morning when they planted a peace garden as part of a school board project. With a little corner of town land near the soccer fields, the students planted gourds, sunflowers, potatoes and a few other vegetables which will be harvested in the fall. The class is looking for families or individuals who would like to assist in the caretaking over the summer. Murray Siertsema will do some cultivating and Betty Battye lent her expertise to the planting. Getting involved Norma Daer was the first resident of Blyth to jump into the Communities in Bloom competition. Daer, who has been an avid gardener for years, has planted her gardens with spectacular colours and a wide variety of flower choices. So, if you want to gloat - get out and vote, so your party has more supporters. Kathy’s Quote of the Week: Two can live as cheaply as a large family used to.
