Ag-Co supports school projects
AMDSB appoints Williams
One of the greatest assets of rural
Ontario is that people who live
here give great support to their
communities. Another fine example
of caring commcnities is the recent
decision by Ag-Co Products
Limited to support major projects
in local schools in the coming
years.
This year’s request for proposals
brought responses from 24 schools
in the Avon Maitland District
School board. Each of these
schools is working closely with
their community on a fundraising
project that will give lasting
benefits to the children who pass
through their school. The proposals
included athletic/playground,
computer, curriculum resource,
classroom sound system and
horticultural/environ mental
projects.
In reviewing these proposals,
Shelley Groenestege of Ag-Co
Products said, “Each and every
request is a priority on its own. All
are necessary to the further
education of our youth at various
ages and development. It is very
difficult to select the project we
feel has the greatest priority. We
would like to appeal to other
businesses and community
organizations to give school
fundraising groups a helping hand.
This can take the form of a major
donation or the purchase of a small
item that is part of the bigger
project. Each journey begins with a
single step. We hope that all school
goals are met.”
Ag-Co Products Limited has
decided to give support to one
project from the Huron-Perth
Catholic District School Board in
1998/99.
In 1999/2000 it will provide a
matching donation to the
fundraising project for playground
equipment now underway at
Romeo Public School, a small
school in the middle of Stratford.
This playground is used by children
in the community around the
school.
Ag-Co Products will also try to
find creative ways to support other

Director of Education Lome

outstanding support. “Without the
support of our communities, it will
take much longer to replace
playground equipment which no

Standards, to upgrade curriculum
resources and sports facilities, to
provide interesting and educational
environmental projects or to put
more computers in front of young
learners. The support by Shelley

the benefits it gives to young
people and the outstanding example
it provides of community support
for schools.”
