Moms talk sports Congratulations An impromptu anniversary party was held April 18, 59 years after the wedding of Helen and Lewis Stonehouse, Belgrave. Family and friends attended from Petrolia, Wingham, Tavistock, Blyth, Lucknow, Goderich, Clinton, Bayfield, Belgrave, Brussels and Gorrie.c The news from ranbrook Mabel's Moms met at their regular time on Wednesday, April 2I. Those who attended were Crystal Agombar, Zacharay and Nicholas; Curtis Weber; Mary Jane Hobden and Stephen; Kim Higgins, Laura, Ashley and Shelby; Karen Rundle and Holly; Lila Procter and Jessica; Donna Raynard, Heidi and Curtis; Elaine Scott, Peyton and Preston; Linda Hess and Judith. Their topic was "Sports of Children". Jesse Van Camp, son of Joel and Julie Van Camp, celebrated his third birthday with his family on Tuesday, April 20. Happy Birthday Jesse from friends and neighbours. On Saturday, April 10 a group of twelve members of the Mitchell Energy Environmental Committee met at the Belgrave Heritage Park. Dave Scott, Murray Vincent, Ken Hopper and Lome Campbell explained the features of the park and various work projects to complete the park. Ken Maronets from the Perth Stewardship Network co-ordinated this tour and information from this and two other parks will help make landscape plans for a Mitchell park and trail. Alice and Gamer Nicholson and Jean Cook attended a birthday and family get-together at Goderich for Zella Crawford's 80th birthday. Chamneys greet Lois and Stuart Chamney greeted worshippers and handed out the Service of Worship on Sunday, April 18 at Knox United Church. Rev. Mary-Jane Hobden welcomed everyone. The senior choir sang Take My Hand, accompanied by Elizabeth Procter. Children's time centred on glasses and how people know they need them. Psalm 116: 1-4, 12-19 was read responsively. Becky Logan looked after the nursery. The Epistle reading was taken from I Peter: 17-23, and the gospel lesson from Luke 24: 13-35. The sermon was about a story of a boy who was looking for God. He met a lady and shared lunch, then gave the lady a hug and told his mother he had eaten with God. "We miss seeing God among the people we meet," said Rev. Hobden. Mrs. Knight led the devotions. She opened with a meditation from Mark 8: 24 The reading of a poem "Trees" written by Sergeant Joyce Kilmer reminded all in the last verse "Poems are made by fools like me, but only God can make a tree." Mrs. Knight followed with a reading from the Glad Tidings booklet which dealt with the return of the Canada geese. The birds coming back promise that spring follows winter anil Christ will rise again in the hearts of all who or bricks made from their own creation and dried in the sun. Their only problem is that they require a truck as their business is expanding. These women live in Swaziland in Africa. Mrs. Leslie Knight, president, called for the reading of the previous minutes and the treasurer's report. Mrs. Stewart Steiss reported that seven cards and 14 visits had been made by the ladies to shut-ins this past month. The date for the church supper in June was discussed.
