A Note from Betty Well have you have been out enjoying all the spring bulbs that are in full bloom this week ? Gibsons' purple hyacinth and Watsons' row of pink beauties are my favourites except for my own daffodils, some put there by the Bakkers many years ago. The Palliative Care folk were doing their good stuff last week as they hosted a Refresher Day for Nurses in Holmesville. Current information delivered by informed professionals to the nurses in Huron will guarantee quality care when needed. Ask your favourite nurse what she learned last week about palliative care. Rev. Chris Johnson spent last week in Nashville at a preaching seminar. We'll let you know if music and country were part of that week. It may just perk up those United folk. John Robson spent a few days in Clinton, quality control of the hospital I presume, not that he was unwell of course. And w'ho among us is not a little pensive this week as we think about Gretzky. He and Gordie Howe have been on my hero list for years. A poster in my kitchen reminds of their grace, commitment and humility in their life work. My oldest brother Bob coached a team with Walter Gretzky in years gone by, so I've been watching Wayne for awhile. He is a hero in the truest sense of the word-portraying skill, pride, common sense and good manners in sports - yes! So hurrah for '99 and his classy retirement in 1999 - what an example to the rest of us. Enjoy the spring and try to live up to just one of Wayne's examples! Bye now, Betty G. Flying John Exel, right of Brussels receives his private pilot's license from Blake Evans, chief flight instructor of Evans Aviation in Kincardine and Wingham.
