Awarding the best Brussels PeeWee hockey player Brooklyn Wheeler was presented with the Don Higgins Memorial Trophy for the most skill, ability and sportsmanship for a goalie at the Brussels Minor Hockey banquet, April 11. New club president Jim McDonald presented her with the honour. Grey accepts Kerr tender Grey Twp. council held its regular meeting on April 6 and accepted tenders from Joe Kerr Ltd. for the loading and hauling of 19,000 tonnes "A" gravel and the supply, loading and hauling of 12,000 tonnes "A" gravel. The Ken- tenders, amounting to $23,582.80 and $36,945.60 respectively, were the lowest of four tenders received for each contract. Council received the 1998 financial statements which indicated an accumulated net deficit at the end of 1998 at $24,055. Council adopted a 1999 budget with projected expenditures of $1,418,057. Major projects for 1999 including the paving of Cone. 8 from County Rd. 12 to Ethel ($285,000) and the reconstruction of Cone. 1 - 2 from Sideroad 20-21 to Lot 26 ($60,000). A resolution was passed endorsing a County of Huron bylaw. Grants of $75 to the Friends of 4- H and $50 to the Huron County Farm and Home Safety Association were authorized for 1999. Council endorsed a resolution from the Twp. of Severn requesting the minister of transportation re­ establish the subsidization of bridge reconstruction and maintenance. Council authorized payment of accounts totalling $83,754.26.
