CranbrookThe news from Compiled by Peter Hagedoorn Phone 887-6935 General store work done The renovation of the old Cranbrook general store building is finished. The building which dated from around 1890 was totally dilapidated. Water stood in the basement and the floor had caved in. The front of the building was rotting away. It was a matter of renovation or removal. Marion Hagedoorn had a dream to restore it and started the process. It is in good shape once more and the porch which was removed in 1982 because it was unsafe has been restored. Karel Unger and Axel Van Wieringen from the Netherlands who visited the hamlet two years ago and took an interest in the old building made the renovations possible. People The community extends sympathy to the family of David Smith in the sudden loss of his brother-in-law. Adam Hagedoorn, Kimberley Walsh and Jessica visited their 'poor old father’ in Cranbrook over the Easter holidays. John Saxon won the chocolate fire truck draw from Sparkie's Restaurant in Seaforth.
