Reeve Bob Szusz introduced Dawn Dolmage, a Grade 7 student at Hullett Central Public School as page for the March 25 session of Huron County council. The 12- year-old is the daughter of Doug and Karen Dolmage of Londesboro. Also pictured is Warden Carol Mitchell of Clinton. Children make crosses Elva and Ian Wilbee greeted worshippers attending Duff's United Church on March 28. Bright yellow daffodils, donated by the Cancer Society through the Blyth Legion Ladies Auxiliary, decorated the communion table as well as two Easter lilies given by the UCW to shut-ins from the community. Rev. James Murray opened the service with words from the book of Matthew. He led the choirs, holding palm branches, down the aisles singing the processional hymn. Tell Me The Stories of Jesus. Rev. Murray then told about the story of the palms which was followed by the Junior and Senior choirs singing, He Comes in the Name of the Lord. During the last verse of Hosanna Loud Hosanna the children went downstairs where they learned to make crosses out of the palm branches. The rest of the service consisted of Palm Sunday Meditations such as the story of silver, story of the bread and wine, the story of Gethsemane and the story of the denial and the trail. Well the Walton kindergartens couldn't come up with much but they did talk about the letter. They began working on Easter baskets and doing Easter activities. They played a bunny hop game, did bunny bowling and hopped around in phys ed. The class had a little going away party for Kevin Campbell who is moving. The students made him a little book filled with pictures and things that they liked about him. Grade l/2s are tracking seasonal changes at a special maple tree in the school yard. When they visited it last December there was no snow in the change-over to winter. This past Monday there was snow on the ground and it was blowing in their faces as they did their spring check. They recorded their own observations in their own booklets, "Through the Seasons." They have planted 80 yogurt cups with seeds or perennials to stao for the school flowerbed later Applebys win at euchre There were 10 tables of euchre played last Thursday. The first place winners were Lloyd and Lillian Appleby. The second place winners were Wayne Robinson and Charlie Scherbarth while Ed Stewart and Glen Sellers took home the third place. Men's lone hand winner was Charlie Johnson and Beth Pryce won the ladies' lone hand. The next euchre games will be April 8. this spring. They covered them with plastic wrap to create a greenhouse effect. In math the Grade 2/3s are working with fractions. They are dividing up pizzas, brownies and candies into equal shares to see how much each person receives. For their story-writing assignments they are to choose a fairytale character that they'd most like to be. They have to tell why and how their new life will be like. The whole class is enjoying the novel. The Chocolate Touch. In environmental studies they are studying, "How things Move". Grade 3/4s are working on fractions as well. They continue to read stories related to medieval times such as, Harold the Giant Knight. The Grade 3s are working on a a pioneer village display and using popsicle sticks they are making log cabins. Parent volunteers took their Early Intervention Reading program training this Friday and soon will be able to begin the program.
