The club may also look into covering the third year's costs as well, said member Charlie Shaw, right. Lion Bev Blair presented Principal Shaw with the donation. W'SPA essentials Scout fundraiser a success The first Group Committee meeting of 1999 was held Feb. 1 at the Blyth Public School. It was reported that popcorn sales went very well prior to Christmas. The Group Committee expressed their appreciation to the community for the support. All money raised will be used for local Scouting projects and events. One member of 1st Blyth Venturers has returned from the World Jamboree in Chile. Robert Goodall, along with another Huron District youth, participated for two weeks as part of the Canadian contingent. The next World Jamboree for Scouting will be in four years. All Sections have taken advantage of the winter conditions to date, and are hopeful that there will be more snow throughout February for some upcoming events. New Beaver Leaders Ian Caldwell and Tom Bailey were invested as full leaders Feb. 2. Everyone is looking forward to the annual Huron District 'Beaver Brrr', to be held Feb. 27 at St. Boniface School in Zurich. It will be a day of crafts, games and outdoor fun for all Huron District Beavers, their Leaders, and parents. Each Cub is working hard to make his Kub Kar into the perfect racing machine for the 1st Blyth Kub Kar Rally in February, and the District race March 13. Winners of that event will have the opportunity to participate in the Regional Kub Kar Rally. The Cubs appreciated the help provided by Mike Moore in constructing their Kub Kars. During January the Scouts held a First Aid Training and sleepover at the Trinity Anglican Church, and joined 4th Goderich Troop Jan. 28 for a very interesting and informative meeting. A member of the OPP Canine Unit brought his dog 'King', who is trained in search and rescue, tracking, criminal apprehension, and drug search. Everyone came away with a greater appreciation of the intelligence and skill of a well-trained, police dog. In preparation for the Huron District Winter Camp for Scouts and Venturers Feb. 5 - 7 the boys made sleds. They are also planning Multiple Sclerosis SOCIETY OF CANADA a cross country ski hike and winter camp with ice fishing February 20 - 21 at Radford's pond. All Sections are making plans for Scout-Guide Week, the celebration of the founding members, Lord and Lady Baden-Powell. A window display of Scouting and Guiding memorabilia will be set up in the window of'Old Village Accents'. The annual potluck banquet will be held Feb. 24 at the Blyth Community Centre, and members of the organization will attend the Feb. 28 church service at Londesboro United Church. All dogs must be licenced in compliance with Village By-law No. 02-1997. A complete copy of the by-law is available at the Municipal Office. An owner or boarder of a dog(s) shall within 10 days of becoming such an owner or boarder, and thereafter on or before the 15th day of February each year shall cause such dog(s) to be again licenced for one year. The fee schedule shall be as follows: (a) For each neutered male or spayed female dog $20.00 (b) For each additional neutered male or spayed female dog $25.00 (c) For each male or female dog, if only one per household $30.00 (d) For each additional male or female dog $40.00 (e) Pitbulls and Pitbull Cross $100.00 A $15.00 late payment charge shall be assessed in addition to the licence fee. Proof of Rabies Vaccination must be available at the time of purchase. The by-law requires dog owners to forthwith remove excrement left by the dog anywhere in the municipality of the Village of Blyth.
