Blyth Memorial Hall was filled to overflowing, Jan. 30, as
children, parents and grandparents came to listen to,
watch and sing-a-long with Dudley the Dragon and his
friend Jim Parker. Not only did the children have the
opportunity to sing and stomp their feet, but they were
asked to roar like a lion, squeal like a monkey, fly an
airplane, drive a car and play hide and seek, as well as
many other activities which kept them entertained. Dudley
was brought to town by the Blyth Interdenominational
Youth Group as a fundraiser.

The Blyth Public School Grade
2/3 class has been very busy. They
have finished a unit on "Pioneers".
For that unit they created log cabins
from milk cartons and pretzels.
In science they have been
discovering snow and water, and
trying many experiments.
In gym they are playing floor
hockey.
Grade 3s have been learning
about mapping math. Grade 2s
have been studying money and
multiplication facts.
They are all preparing speeches
and storytelling for public
speaking.

On Wednesday, Jan. 20, two high
school reps from F. E. Madill and
the other one from CHSS came to
talk to the Grade 7/8 class about
high school.
The Grade 7/8 class learned
about the programs being offered at
both secondary schools. They also
read books about courses in high
school. They will be choosing
between applied and academic
courses. Applied courses provide
"hands on work" and academic
courses contain more "theory and

• artifacts. Learn about the supplies,
materials and resources that are
available to help you look after
your heirloom. Examples of
treasure you could bring may be a
painting, small piece of furniture, a
silver teapot, a family photograph,
a textile such as a wedding dress or
quilt, a book or family Bible. Bring
written work". They also learned
about what the teachers expect
from them.
Overall they think high school
will be good, but it will be a big
change from public school.
