OLIVE SPROUL Mrs. Olive (Godfrey) Sproul of Huronlea, in Brussels, and formerly of Ethel and Dungannon, passed away at Seaforth Community Hospital on Jan. 19, 1999. She was 72. She was the beloved wife of the late Clifford Sproul, the dear mother of Jim and Marilyn Sproul of Ethel, Brian and Sandra Sproul of Kitchener, Terry and Gail Sproul of Ethel, Steven and Mary Lou Sproul of Kitchener, Mike and Deborah Sproul of Arthur, Mark and Maria Sproul of North York and Peg and Greg Glasius of Chesley. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and her sister, Gail Livingstone of Australia. She was predeceased by her brothers, Howard and John. Visitation was held at the McCallum and Palla Funeral Home, Goderich, where the funeral service was held Jan. 22, at 1 p.m. Pastor Sharon Willis Whitwell officiated. Burial was in Dungannon Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation and Huronlea (Brussels) were appreciated. ANGUS JOHN HART Angus John Hart, formerly of RR 2, Brussels, passed away at Bray Lodge, Wingham on Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999. He was in his 76th year. Bom in McKillop Twp. on May 13, 1923, Mr. Hart was the oldest Aux. donates to therapy dep ’t. The Jan. 25 meeting of the Auxiliary to the Wingham and District Hospital was held in the board room of the hospital. President, Helen Dougherty welcomed the 14 people in attendance. After repeating the Auxiliary prayer, a moment of silence was observed in honour of Auxiliary member Lloyd "Casey" Casemore. Dougherty introduced and thanked Murray Hunter for attending the meeting and for bringing them up to date and answering questions regarding the Huron-Perth Hospital Partnership's senior management team and the new clinic building. A letter from the Occupational Therapy Department requesting a donation to aid in the purchase of an assessment tool was read. This assessment takes the form of a test kit which measures perceptual difficulties people may have in carrying out basic daily living tasks. It was unanimously decided to purchase the item for the department. On behalf of the members, thanks was expressed to Shirley Kaufman and her committee for the Christmas decorating, to Marion MacKenzie for the Christmas stockings in which December babies were taken home, to Marie Phillips for her presentation to the first baby of 1999 of a shawl from the Auxiliary and a basket of gifts from the board and local merchants. Also thanked were Mary Lou Cameron for assembling the basket of donated articles and Marlene Leedham for obtaining gifts for the teen volunteers. The Auxiliary received citation from the Canadian Red Cross for their work in running the blood child of the late George and Susannah Hart. He later moved to Grey Twp. where he farmed until 1996 when he had to leave farming for health reasons. John will be remembered as a good neighbour who would always lend a hand and be there to chat, and for his good sense of humor. He will be sadly missed by his brothers, Charles Hart and his wife Lily of Goderich and Robert Hart and his wife Muriel of RR 2, Brussels, and his sister Jean Anderson and her husband Ross of Mitchell. He was the dear brother- in-law of Delores Culbert of Lucknow, Lois Schneider of Brussels and Fred Buchanan of Kinburn. He is also loved by his several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hart was predeceased by brothers Elmer and James Hart, sister Etta Buchanan and niece Donna Elston. At John's request, there was no funeral home visitation. A private family service was conducted oh Tuesday, Jan. 26 at Schimanski Family Funeral Home, Brussels with Rev. Lynn Nichol of Cranbrcok Presbyterian Church officiating and the music provided by Mrs. Grace Jutzi at the piano. Spring interment in Brussels Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Hart, Jerry Hart, Robert Anderson, Murray Anderson, Bill Buchanan and Robert Buchanan. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Cranbrook Presbyterian Church or to the charity of one's choice. ROBERT GEORGE POLLARD 'Robert George Pollard passed away at the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Tuesday, donor clinics. The next blood donor clinic will be held on March 11, 1:15 to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at F. E. Madill Secondary School. The dates for the spring rummage sales were set for April 15 - 16. Donations for spring and summer clothing, footwear, books and household articles were appreciated. Junior Kindergarten (b) Students who will be 4 years of age by December 31, 1999. Parents of Kindergarten Age children are asked to telephone their area school no later than Friday, February 12. 1999. Students presently attending Junior Kindergarten in an Avon Maitland school do not need to be re-registered. The school will forward a registration package to the home. Anderson, Chairperson Jan. 26, 1999. He was 76. Mr. Pollard was the beloved husband of Gertrude Phillips. He was the loving father of Lisa Pollard of North Bay and dear brother of Janet Whitehouse of Oshawa, Beryl Cleary (husband Bill) of Whitby and John Pollard of Blyth. He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his brothers William and Ted Pollard. He rested at the Martyn Funeral Home, North Bay. Funeral services were held in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel Friday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. Interment in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, North Bay. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. WILLIAM A. COLEMAN William Coleman passed away Jan. 19, 1999 at the Lady Dunn General Hospital, Wawa. He was the beloved husband and soul mate of Shirley (Thompson) for over 50 years. He was predeceased by his parents Alec and Annie Coleman and brother Kenneth of Brussels. He is survived by brothers Don (Hank) and Phyllis of Brussels and Jack and Joan of Vanastra, brother- in-law Ken and Abbie Thompson of Sooke, B.C. and Beth Barker of Burlington as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion ana the Masons. He served overseas with the Second Canadian Armoured Brigade Signal Corps. At Bill's request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation. Arrangements entrusted to the Gilmartin Funeral Home, Wawa. needed to fill the executive positions for 1999-2000. It was mentioned that the Public Relations Committee of the board has a proposal to "Accentuate the Positive” in 1999. This theme is intended to launch the hospital into the year 2000 on a high note. The spring conference for the Auxiliary is April 26. The next meeting will be held April 19, 1999 at 1:30 p.m. in the board room of the hospital. MARY YUILL Mary Yuill of Brussels passed away at Huronlea Home for the Aged, Brussels on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999. She was 95 years of age. Mrs. Yuill was born in Morris Twp. (third line) on March 25, 1903, the daughter of Jeannet and William Bowman. She attended SS #6 Morris School where she met Jack Yuill. They were married June 3, 1925 and lived on the third of Morris until 1969 when they retired to Brussels. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1975. Jack passed away in October of 1978. In 1989, Mary sold her home and moved into an apartment. A year later she moved into Maplewood Retirement Home in Seaforth. In June 1993, she moved to Huronlea where she resided ever since. Mary attended Melville Presbyterian Church and was a member of the WMS. She also was an avid lawn bowler until she was 85 years of age. Mary is survived by one daughter Jean Bewley of Brussels, granddaughters Mary Baker and her husband Wayne of Nobleton, and Brenda Raven and her husband Dan of Airdrie, AB and six great- grandsons John and Scott Raven of Airdrie and Kevin, Mark, Stephen and Matthew Baker of Nobleton. She was predeceased by her husband John Yuill, son-in-law Walter Bewley (1983) and brothers William (1935) and John (1988). Friends were received by the family Friday afternoon at the Schimanski Family Funeral Home, Brussels where the funeral service was conducted on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Cathrine Campbell of Melville Presbyterian Church officiating. Spring interment in Brussels Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Kevin Baker, Mark Baker and Stephen Baker, along with Keith Elston, Graham Work and Jeff Cardiff. Carrying floral tributes were Emily Elston and grandson Matthew Baker. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Melville Presbyterian Church or to the charity of one's choice. (519) 527-2266 OR 1-800-592-5437 and ask for Dianne Stevenson, ext. 139 Lome Rachlis Wendy Anderson Director of Education Chair JOSEPH WILLIAMS COOPER Joseph Cooper of Blyth passed away at Wingham and District Hospital on Friday, Jan. 22, 1999. He was 77. Mr. Cooper was the beloved hus­ band of the former Joan Major, who predeceased him in 1977. He was the dear father of Jill Cooper of Blyth, David Cooper of British Columbia and Christopher Cooper of Huron Park. He is also survived by three grandchildren. A son Patrick, predeceased him as well. Mr. Cooper was a veteran of World War II. Following the war he was in the Canadian Armed Forces retiring with the rank of Warrant Officer II. Cremation has taken place.
