Blyth got off the mark first when Steve VanAmcrsfoort relayed the puck to T.J. Marks for the game opener al 11:32. The Stewart combo of Kirk and Cole (assist) followed up late in the period for a two-goal margin. Milverton narrowed it to one before the buzzer. A goal from Mike Bean and another from Milverton brought the Brussels, Blyth tie it up The Brussels Pee Wees earned a lie and a win over the last week of play when they challenged Blyth and Bayfield. The squad look to the ice in Blyth, Jan. 13, only to see them jump to an early lead off a solo effort by Trever Koehler. Blyth was held scoreless through the second while Brussels took over the lead. Kyle Stephenson scored at 7:58 and Rob Semple slid one in at 2:11. Assists went to Brendan Blake and Tyler Camp­ bell. Brussels went up 3-1 in the third when Sean Hocgy took a pass from Semple for the goal. Action seesawed with Blyth scor­ ing at 13:48 by Steve Van Amcrs- foort and at 10:43 by Micha Loder, while Brussels sandwiched in one at 11:49 by Joel Hemingway. Novices trounce Blyth The Brussels Novice Reps trounced Blyth Friday night 11-1. Chris Ccrbett scored two in the first, whi.’e Jordan Campbell notched a single. Alyssa Gowing and Corbett earned assists. Gowing tallied one of her own in the second with a helper going to Corbett. Wade Stephenson was set up by Chase Chapman for Brussels' fifth goal, whil Corbett nailed his hattrick off a pass from Tom Cronin. In the third, Stephenson tallied one unassisted, with Corbett scor­ ing another hattrick, with an assist from his brother Adam on the first. William King ended the Brussels onslaught with C. Corbett gelling the assist. Blyth's lone goal was scored by Richard Gregg in the third. Doing a stellar job in net for Brussels was Shane Gibson. On Saturday the team scored another victory in Bayfield. After a scoreless first period, Christopher Julzi got Brussels on the board on a pass from Cronin. C. Corbett notched one with helpers from Gowing and King. Julzi then bulged the twine for a second time with assists going to Chapman and Campbell. The third period belonged to the Corbett twins with each scoring two and assisting on three of the four. Gowing and King also earned assists. score to 3-2 for Blyth heading into the third. Blyth opened the game up in the final frame, slapping three past the nciminder while holding the home- towners to one. Goals were scored by Trever Koehler and C. Stewart (two), with his second on a power play. K. Stewart (two), Koehler and Bean got the assists. Blyth played Brussels Jan. 13. Results can be found in the Brus­ sels PecWees’ report. Blyth assists were earned by Kirk Stewart (two) and Loder. Hemingway put his team up by two with just four minutes remain­ ing, but Blyth would not be held off. They drew within one at 3:25 when T.J. Marks scored then saw Koehler slip in the tying goal with under a minute left. Stewart and Marks assisted. The final was 5-5. On Jan. 15, Brussels welcomed Bayfield to town, then soundly beat them in a 6-1 victory. Spreading the goals through three periods, Brussels point-earners were Nick Campbell (two), Hem­ ingway (two), Evan Horst and Stephenson. Assists went to T. Campbell (three), Hemingway (three), Scott Armstrong, Devon Blake, John Engel and Sean Hocgy. Bayfield netted their only two goals in the third period of this 7-2 contest. Stephenson played well in net for this game. The two teams faced off in Brussels on Friday night with Brussels losing this one by a narrow 2-0. Brussels Atom Reps edged by Zurich Lots of action in a very physical game ended with Brussels Atom Reps coming up just short when they met Zurich at home, Jan. 15. The team had plenty of scoring opportunties but couldn't manage to sneak one by the Zurich goalie. A solid night in net for Kyle Gibson kept the visitors down for a 2-0 final in Zurich's favour. On Jan. 17 the team travelled to Zurich for a tournament. Brussels first game was against Mount Brydges and again they came up two shy for the victory. Fairly well-matched, the teams were neck and neck until the end of the third period when Mount Bry­ dges jumped ahead with two goals to finish it at 6-4. Scoring for Brussels were Greg Bowers, Josh Albrechlas, Adam Corbett and Matt White. Assists went to Adam McClure, Bowers, Andrew McDonald and Albrechtas. The next match-up was less even as Brussels faced an 8-1 defeat against Belmont, a speedy squad which dominated most of the game. Brussels was kept off the board Gaetan L. Blanchette, Director of Education Belmont defenseman and shot one over the goalie into the top comer of the net. WINGHAM & DISTRICT HOSPITAL HIGHLIGHTS NEW YEAR’S BABY: Our New Year’s baby, Edna Martin, daughter of Barbara and Elam Martin, of RR1, Wingham, was presented with gifts from the Auxiliary to Wingham & District Hospital and local businesses. ELEVATOR UPGRADE: The hospital’s main elevator will be out of service, starting January 4th for approx, six weeks, while it is being modernized. Visitors are asked to use the stairs when possible. NEW CLINICS: Dr. Emerson MacRae of London (who formerly held his clinic at the Medical Arts Building) is now holding his Ear; Eye, Nose and Throat clinic in the Out-Patient Department at the hospital It is held on the first and third Tuesday of each month and a physician’s referral is required. Dr. MacRae will see patients with ear, hearing, nasal and sinus complaints, throat and voice complaints, hoarseness, neck lumps and tonsil and adenoid assessments. until the third period. Then in a nice individual effort, Chris Corbett broke down the right wing, beat the An Obstetncs/Gynecology Clinic will start on January 15th with Dr. Cheryl Hillyer, Obstetrician and Gynecologist, from Stratford. Dr. Hillyer will see patients in our Out-Patient Department on three Fridays each month. Physician referral is required. iUXILIARY: Thank you to those who helped with and supported the Auxiliary projects during the month of December. Our next meeting will be held on January 25th at 1:30 p.m. in the Board Room. DIABETES EDUCATION: This educational program is for patients with diabetes and their families. The next set of classes will be held on Tuesdays, January 19th and 26th, from 8:30 a m. to 3.00 p.m. A physician’s referral is required to attend. Contact the Diabetes Education staff at 357-3210, ext. 362 for further information. ‘ HEART TO HEART: The next session is scheduled to begin February 3, 1999 and run for seven weeks. The program is designed for those who have had a heart attack, angina or heart surgery. Spouses/partners are welcomed. Registration fee is $30.00. For more information contact N. Brown or W.
