Tyke goalie earns
against Goderich
On Saturday the Brussels Tykes
hosted a strong Goderich team.
Mid-way through the second
period Ben Gowing made a solo
rush, deked a defenseman and beat
the goalie with a shot to the comer
to give Brussels a 1-0 lead.
Goderich put the pressure on, but
goalie Ryan Smith, playing a solid
game, made several good saves to
keep the Goderich shooters off the
scoreboard.
In the third period Cody Subject
outraced two Goderich defensemen
for a loose puck and scored on a
breakaway to up the Brussels lead.
Smith continued his stellar work to

PeeWees win big
The Blyth PceWees ended 1998

It was a seesaw battle through the
first and second periods until Blyth
kicked it into overdrive in the third.
Micah Loder started the scoring,
unassisted, at 11:39 before Elma-
Logan answered at 4:45 of the first.
Loder tallied his second of the
game at 14:01 of the second with
the assistance of Neil Salverda and
Mike Bean.

watch Blyth's Kirk Stewart pop one
in on a power play within a minute.
Tied at three, Andy Toll's goal at

final frame with the lead. Stewart
and Trever Koehler earned assists.
Though Elma-Logan scored one,
Blyth was unstoppable, adding four
to the scoreboard.
Loder added his third and fourth

Koehler's netters also came while
killing a penally.
Assists went to Ryan

nipped Blyth in the first contest of
the year in a 5-4 late-game victory.

Koehler responded at 5:56 to end
the opening frame tied at one.
Three goals by Clinton put them
up 4-1 before Blyth got back in the
game with two quick shots from
Cole Slewart at 2:19 and 2:13.
Slewart earned the natural hat-
trick when he opened the third with
a twine bulgcr to tic the match. He

However, at 3:12, a Clinton shot
slipped over the line to hand Blyth

in the tournament semi-final.
Hensall started quickly against
the Tykes and scored three goals in
the first 10 minutes. Prior, with an
assist from Cronin, scored for
Brussels during the Hensall flurry
to make the score 3-1. Brussels
picked up the pace for the last half
of the game and created several
good scoring chances. /
However, the Hensall goalie
made several great saves.
With five minutes left in the
game Gowing's goal with an assist
going to Ducharme cut the Hensall
lead to 3-2.
Brussels continued to press but
were unable to beat the Hensall
goalie. The loss eliminated the
