Morris gets letters regarding restructuring Morris Twp. councillors received several letters concerning restruc­ turing for consideration at the Jan. 5 session. Information was received from East Wawanosh Twp. that council wished to join the Morris and Turn­ berry Twp. group for amalgama­ tion. A meeting would be held to begin talks. Letters also arrived from the Vil­ lage of Blyth and Jim Coultcs. A meeting has been tentatively set for Jan. 11, with Wescast Group engineers to review fire and build­ ing requirements for the project. Council had asked for notice of the meeting so that councillors could attend. Wingham Fire Chief Harley Gaunt and Chief Building Official Paul Josling will attend. Council reviewed the increased premium for the health benefit plan then approved the 8.6 per cent hike from Mosey and Mosey Insurance. The fee for a tax and zoning cer­ tificate will be increased to $30. A borrowing bylaw with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Com­ merce in Wingham, in the amount of $700,000, was passed. A letter will be sent to the Bel­ grave waler trustees advising that waler sampling costs will no longer be covered by the Huron County Health Unit. MDS lab, which is currently testing Wingham, Blyth, Brussels and soon East Wawanosh, has a cost of $6 per sample. A list of quotes will be included. Approval was given to a request from Orval and Mervyn Bauer and Murray and Audrey Johnston to split the drain assessment over three years. Road Superintendent Lloyd Michie advised council of damage to Blind Line Bridge, apparently caused by a contractor removing logs from property at Cone. 1, Lot 21, 22. A report has been made to the insurance company. The landowner of Lot 16, Cone. 7 will be advised that the fence under construction is loo close to the road and must be at least 33 feet from the road centre. There were no objections to a zoning amendment for Lot 3 and 4, Cone. 17 of Grey Twp. East Wawanosh Twp. council requested that their councillor, James Campbell, act as the Mait­ land Valley Conservation Authority representative in lieu of Morris Deputy-Reeve Keith Johnston. A letter will be sent to East Wawanosh saying that it was the understanding that Johnston would have a two-year term, running through 1999 and that it takes one year to become accustomed to the board. A one-year term is not ade­ quate. Council will seek a representa­ tive from Belgrave for the Commu­ nity Policing Committee. Clerk-Treasurer Nancy Michie will attend a seminar on Jan. 15, concerning Bill 79. No councillor will attend the Rural Ontario Municipalities Asso­ ciation convention in February. The membership fee of $594.40 for the Association of Municipali­ ties of Ontario was approved for payment. Endorsement was given to a reso­ lution from the City of Napean regarding a review of school fund­ ing and closures. This year was declared Interna­ tional Year of the Older Person. A donation of $690 from the Lat­ timer Estate went to Blyth Union Cemetery. The Huron Plowmen's Associa­ tion will receive $50. Council agreed to pay Max Demaray $50 for driving the bus for the township's Christmas party.
