Unfortunately the only way into the site was by snowmobile and race officials and personnel became stranded on route. The good news is that there is excellent snow cover at the Walton track which is to host round two and three of the race series this Sunday, Jan. 10 and Jan. 31. The Lee family and the B-W Trailblazers snowmobile club are busy getting the parking lots cleared, the track groomed and the various facilities for food, sound, etc. ready. Snowcross is an exciting new sport similar to motocross. The competitors start all together on a start line and complete 10-15 laps of a closed course. The course consists of left and right turns, off and on cambers and the real crowd favourite, JUMPS. The more skilled can leap 40 - 50 feet and get 10-12 feet in the air. Combined with the intense bar- to-bar action in the corners and incredibly rough straights the action has to be wild and spectacular. Many of the finest Ontario riders are expected to be competing for the first time this season.
