United are still interested in
accommodating a few more vendors.
If you are interested, contact Sandy
Bergsma. They are also looking for
donations of handmade items for a
miscellaneous table. They would
welcome donations of fiction and
non-fiction books for a book sale
table. Items should be dropped off at
the church by Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Loretta Joyce Ann Geddes became
the youngest villager on Monday,
Oct. 7. She will be bringing big
changes to the home of Shelby
[Radford] and Jamie. Proud
grandparents in the village are
Robert and Traci Radford.
Congratulations!
Are you wearing your poppy yet?
It’s time! There are two more flags
on the poles by the school now. One
is of Clarence Crawford and the
other is Cliff Saundercock - both
men of our community who served
in World War II.
Joan Goodall, Brenda Konarski,
Joan Howatt and Margaret Wright
led the time of devotion at the
Londesborough UCW meeting on
Monday, Oct. 21. Their program
was titled “Live in the Slipstream”.
The accompanying scripture passage
was Acts 2: 42-47.
We have all learned from watching
the geese in formation in the fall that
the birds behind the leader have an
easier time for they are in the
slipstream. But because they are a
group/family they take turns leading
so everyone does their share for the
group as a whole.
During His time on earth, Jesus
led His group/family of followers.
After His Ascension, those disciples
took the lead and established the
early churches teaching others about
Christianity and relying on each
other in the face of dissension and
creating a faith family.
Over the years, Christians have
come to realize being a family in
Christ and working together makes
our church family stronger. We share
problems, lean on each other, use
our individual abilities and find joy
together.
President Bev Riley conducted a
very full business meeting.
For the upcoming bazaar,
donations of cookies/squares for
the containers to be packed should
be at the church the morning of the
Nov. 15. The UCW will also offer
for sale some small tied quilts.
The Munch and Mingle set for
Sunday, Nov. 17 is to be hosted by
the UCW. All members will
be supplying dishes for a potluck
meal,
An appeal for funding for a
food/snack box at Hullett Central
School saw the group making a
donation of $100. Also, an end-of-
year donation of $1,400 to the
current expenses of the church was
approved. The mitten tree will be in
place shortly ready to receive
donations of mitts, scarves, hats
socks and underwear for the Huron
County Christmas Bureau.
The UCW Christmas potluck is
set for Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m.
Donations that evening are
encouraged for the Room to
Grow program and the Women’s
Shelter in Goderich.
