other athletes he has met over the
last couple of years. He is excited
about being there and is staying in a
home. We are all excited about this
opportunity for Ryan and wish him
well in his schooling and training.
Sadness has hit the village of
Walton with the news of the passing
of Wayne Williamson. He will be
missed by his wife Linda and his
daughters and Brandi and Hope and
their families. Wayne was an
employee of Hensall Co-op for
many years and enjoyed a quiet
family life. Our condolences to all.
It is official. The Walton Inn is
now being operated by new owner
Brian Scainni. A friendly fellow and
a Maple Leaf/Blue Jay fan, he only
plans a few changes at the
restaurant. Staff will remain the
same with Marlene, Jacquie and
Leigha handling the weekday
routines. Hopefully we will run into
him again soon!
Our sympathies are extended to
the Haggitt family on the passing of
Susan Haggitt. She will be missed
by her husband Gord and her
children Chad, Michael and Leanne
and their families. We extend our
condolences to the extended
Thompson and Haggitt families.
Karen Hoegy has had company
this week with daughter Sherry and
husband Eric and son Fletcher here
for a visit and wedding. It was only
for five days, but they were busy
days. It was the occasion of the
marriage of grandson and nephew
Justin Hoegy to Nicole. The
wedding was on Saturday in London
at Windemere Manor and was
absolutely lovely. Little Fletcher
Delay was ringbearer and at the age
of four, did an excellent job. Justin is
the son of Darryl and Ruthann
Hoegy. The newlyweds will reside
in London. Congratulations to all.
The Walton Raceway held its final
open practise weekend at the track.
They had a great turnout of riders
wanting that last chance to run on
one of the finest tracks in Ontario.
Time to put the track to bed for the
winter and then start to make next
year’s plans.

need in order to remain healthy.
The site will also offer walk-in flu
shots, compression stockings and,
by appointment, travel vaccinations,
a service that Banjoko says is unique
for residents living in the area.
He said the travel clinic is a
service offered in Stratford and will
be available in Brussels, making it
the second location in the region to
offer the service.
Banjoko also said the Brussels site
may expand in the future, saying
that there is that option in the current
building.
For current customers of the
pharmacy, little should change.
Prescriptions will be maintained in
the system and all the changes
should only enhance the good
experiences customers have had at
the site.

Pharmacy to offer walk-in flu shots
THE EDITOR,
I am neither pro nor against Justin
Trudeau. However, I am totally
disgusted by the frenzy the media
has stirred up about Justin’s “brown
face” make-up when he was
roleplaying during a themed event
all those years ago.
I am certain it was never Justin’s
intent to disrespect any segment of
society or be racist.
It repulses me to listen to the
diatribe, in this respect, coming
from Jagmeet Singh and Andrew
Scheer – tsk, tsk – get over
yourselves. There is a host of
credible issues up for discussion on
the airways and in the print media in
these pre-election days on which to
focus. And the media is choosing
this? We need help.
Somewhere it is written that,
“imitation is the sincerest form of
flattery.” So be it!

A new tradition
This year’s Brussels Fall Fair’s opening ceremonies featured an activity organizers will hope
become an annual tradition. A new cake-decorating contest and auction brought out 26
dignitaries from neighbouring fairs and plowing matches and raised $1,000 for the Brussels
Agricultural Society. (Shawn Loughlin photo)
