Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending Sept.
13 were 2,105 cattle and 368 lambs
and goats.
On Tuesday fed steers and heifers
sold steady. Choice steers and
heifers sold $140 to $144 with sales
to $144.50. Second cut steers and
heifers sold $136 to $140. Cows sold
actively at steady prices.
On Thursday veal sold on a strong
active trade at steady prices. Lambs,
sheep and goats sold steady. On
Friday calves and grass cattle sold
actively at steady prices. Yearlings
sold on a slightly easier market.
Leonard and Andrew Black of
Proton Station, consigned 12 steers
that averaged 1,457 lbs. and sold for
an average price of $140.13. Two
limousin steers averaged 1,533 lbs.
and sold for an average price of
$144.50. Larry Reinhart Jr. of
Mildmay, consigned eight head that
averaged 1,326 lbs. and sold for an
average price of $138.78. One gold
steer weighed 1,485 lbs. and sold for
$144.50.
There were 225 cows on offer.
Beef sold $75 to $90 with sales to
$100; D1, $74 to $80 with sales to
$93; D2, $69 to $73; D3, $65 to $68.
Middelkamp Farms Ltd. of Ripley
consigned one charolais cow that
weighed 1,285 lbs. and sold for
$100.
There were 21 bulls selling $93.50
to $124. Brandon Ernest of
Walkerton, consigned one red bull
that weighed 1,980 lbs. and sold for
$124.
There were 175 head of veal on
offer. Beef veal sold $135 to $150
with sales to $177; good holsteins,
$108 to $122 with sales to $124; Sl
heavy holsteins, $102 to $114; heavy
holsteins, $90 to $100; medium
holsteins, $90 to $105; plain
holsteins, $70 to $80.
Lamar Frey of Listowel,
consigned seven heifers that
averaged 899 lbs. and sold for an
average price of $148.21. One
blonde heifer weighed 880 lbs. and
sold for $177. R G & G Farms of
Kincardine, consigned one holstein
steer that weighed 685 lbs. and sold
for $124. Levi T. Miller of
Wingham, consigned four holstein
steers that averaged 695 lbs. and sold
for an average price of $115.14. One
holstein steer weighed 705 lbs. and
sold for $122.
Lambs under 50 lbs. sold $206 to
$236; 50 - 64 lbs., $210 to $247; 65
- 79 lbs., $200 to $234; 80 - 94 lbs.,
$192 to $199; 95 - 109 lbs., $191 to
$197; 110 lbs. and over, $189 to
$191.
Sheep sold $125 to $170.
Goats: billies sold $150 to $300;
nannies, $100 to $170; kids: dairy,
$175 to $255; meat, $305 to $350.

consigned eight kid goats that
averaged 56 lbs. and sold for an
average price of $341.54. Three kid
goats averaged 62 lbs. and sold for
an average price of $350.

consigned 49 steers that averaged
928 lbs. and sold for an average
price of $185.74. Seven charolais
steers averaged 897 lbs. and sold for
an average price of $191.
Abram M. Martin of Holyrood,
consigned 32 heifers that averaged
710 lbs. and sold for an average
price of $173.99. Eighteen charolais
heifers averaged 720 lbs. and sold
for an average price of $189.50.

consigned 54 steers that averaged
1,033 lbs. and sold for an average
price of $169.58. Twenty black
steers averaged 1,071 lbs. and sold
for an average price of $168.75.

Roger and Debbie Hopper greeted
and handed out the bulletins to the
many worshippers attending from
Trinity and Dungannon to share in
the celebration with Belgrave.
The call to worship was read
responsively followed by special
music by Kamden Gillespie, a guest
soloist singing while accompanying
herself at the piano.
Brian had brought with him his
“Holy Cow” that was once lost, but
now found. He related it to just as
Holy Cow was lost so are our
children who once came to Sunday
school. We need to find them and
bring them back. We miss them
being part of our church service and
Sunday school. Scripture passages
were read by Roger Hopper,
Timothy 1: 12-27 and Debbie
Hopper, Luke 15: 1-10.
After the Lord’s Prayer, Kamden
Gillespie delighted the congregation
with selections.
After the parting hymn, “Great Is
Thy Faithfulness” and the
benediction and blessing concluded
the worship service.
Brian said the grace and everyone
went downstairs for lunch and
fellowship.
