Tykes win 2 of 3 in tourney
Nine members of the Brussels
Minor Hockey executive met
Thursday, Aug. 8 to discuss the
'96-'97 hockey season in Brussels.
The meeting started with Brian
Rutledge reporting on news from
the Bulls hockey club. The two
associations want to keep a very
positive relationship built between
them and have decided to have a
representative at each other's
meetings to keep the lines of
communication open.
The executive is working on
having a novice tournament in
Brussels to help increase revenue
and keep costs down. However,
members voted to raise registration
fees in order to keep up with the
rising costs of ice rental and
insurance costs. Fundraising will be
on a voluntary basis, but it was
noted that the new sweaters
purchased last year were the result
of the proceeds raised through
fundraising.
Registration will be held on Sept.
11 and 12 from 7 to 9 p.m. The
equipment exchange will again be
included, with drop off being on
Wednesday and the sale of the
equipment being on the Thursday
only.
In order to keep hockey going in
Brussels, members stressed again
the need for volunteer coaches and
trainers. Anyone interested and or
with the ability, contact Al Bragg
or attend the next meeting on Sept.
5 at 7:30 p.m. All parents and
people involved in minor hockey
are invited to all meetings. People
in surrounding areas who find they
do not have a hockey team to join
because of a shortage of numbers,
may also become involved in the
Brussels Minor Hockey Associa-
tion.
