deBoer's 2-run blast brings Blyth count to 7
It was an action-packed, hard-hit-
ting game, July 16, when the Blyth
Mite Boys took to the field against
Colborne 1.
At-bat in the top of the first,
Justin Peters and Jamie Ross
earned singles, Josh Albrechtas
popped a triple, bringing in three
runs and Korey Machan and Ryan
Mcclinchey added two more
triples.
A two-run homer by Raymond
deBoer brought the run count to
seven.
On the field, the outs shared
between shortstop and the pitcher
as Peters basketed a pop fly, Ross
struck out the batter for the second
out and Peters tagged a grounder
for the third out at third.
Machan caught.
Blyth topped up their 7-0 lead in
the second when Nick Stryker and
Darcey Cook tapped singles, Kyle
McNeil and Peters connected for
doubles and Ross brought home
three on a solid hit, missing a
homerun when he was tagged out at
the plate.
The squad continued to shut
down their opponent with Peters
and McClinchcy combining for the
first out at third. An accurate throw
by second baseman Albrechtas to
first baseman Cook earned the sec-
ond and strong pitching by Ross
ended the inning. Colborne put one
run on the board.
Blyth went up 13-1 through two
and a half on the strength of a
McClinchey RBI, Peters' triple,
deBoer's double and a McNeil sin-
gle.
With Ross taking over the catch-
ing duties, Peters, then McClinchey
took to the mound in the third.
Cook recorded the first out at
first with McClinchey striking out
the last two batters. Colborne
scored two.
The Blyth bats could not be qui-
eted as five runs were added in the
fourth.
Albrechtas nubbed a single,
McClinchey and Peters added dou-
bles, Machan, a triple and deBoer,
a homerun.
With McClinchey on the hill in
the fourth, Colborne mounted an
attack. Though Peters caught a pop
fly for the first out and McClinchey
struck out one, Colborne tallied the
maximum run count of seven, with
only two outs.
Seeing their lead slip slightly to
18-10, Blyth came out hitting in the
final frame. deBoer smacked his
third homerun while McClinchey
hit his first of the game. Cook
earned an RBI, Ross and Stryker
added doubles and Albrechtas con-
tributed a single.
Colborne was able to manage
only one run in the bottom of the
fourth, battling a strong throw to
second by Cook to Peters for an
out, a pop fly catch by Peters and a
strike out by Ross.
The final score was 23-11.
Wallace wallops Belgrave
The Belgrave Mite girls were
unable to counteract the strong hit-
ting and pitching supplied by the
Wallace squad when they came to
town, July 17.

lead, bringing four across the plate
in the first half inning. Kristen
Palmer struck out three.

first, Belgrave gave up seven runs
