are honest could we honestly say
all that I need, more than I really
need."

wants.
Funding announced for health study
represent any organization or group
but are here to plan how the
hospital system can be structured to
best meet the health care needs of
the people throughout the district."
The volunteer board will be
charged with developing an
integrated system of hospital and
health care services. It will give
immediate attention to hospital
restructuring and will consider
hospital-related services such as
home care, long-term care and
other support services.
A major step was taken towards
restrucluring health services in
Huron'Perth July 11, with the
announced approval of funding for
a hospital and related health
services study. The announcement
was made on behalf of Health
Minister Jim Wilson by Helen
Johns, MPP for Huron and
Parliamentary Assistant to Health,
and Perth MPP Bert Johnson.
The Huron Perth District Health
Council (HPDHC) will be leading
the study which is expected to last
six months. The Ministry is
investing $260,500 in the study.
Johns commends council and
staff on the quality of the proposal,
saying she was particularly
impressed with the innovative, cost
effective approach they were
taking.
"It is exactly this kind of
progressive thinking and
enthusiastic commitment that will
move our health system forward
quickly," said Johnson. "These
people face enormous challenges in
the next few months and we thank
them for their dedication to their
communities."
HPDHC Executive Director
Fraser Bell said, the study is
essential to ensure that the health
care needs of Huron Perth residents
remain in the forefront. "It will
provide the opportunity to
maximize the effective use of
available resources in order to
ensure high quality, accessible care
and services."
Council Chair Deb Campbell
said that local planning ensures that
the decisions made reflect the
values of the community. "There
are going to be many opportunities
throughout the process for residents
of Huron Perth to get involved and
share their ideas. The quality of the
resulting health care system will be
directly related to the extent of the
community's involvement."
Council and Task Force members
bring many perspectives to this
study, said Janet Hook, Chair of the
Study Task Force. "We do not
