Memorial
Sunny skies and balmy breezes prevailed for the annual Brussels Cemetery Decoration Day
service last Sunday. The Legion Pipe Band led the way for this special memorial service.
Rev. Nancy Beale of St. John's Anglican officiated.
Servanthood, sermon topic
Doris Gascho, pastor from the
Mennonite Conference was guest
speaker at the Brussels Mennonite
Fellowship Sunday service on June
30.
She pointed out that servanthood
is costly, and often lonely. She
reviewed the story of the woman
who was healed by working her
way unnoticed through the crowd
and touching Jesus' garments. Jesus
knew immediately that someone
had been healed and demanded to
know who had touched Him. Her
faith became a public legend, and is
still known today through scrip-
tures. In the faith community,
secrets are exposed. Everyone
needs a place where tears and fears
and understood. "No matter what
the situation, we are still loved by
God in the same way," Gascho
said.
Mervin Lichty was song leader
and Lauris Boltz was pianist.
Andrea Dettweiler played the
offertory.
Next Sunday, Harold Shantz
from the Mrlverton congregation
will bring the message.
