Members had dinner at the Hillcrest Restaurant then proceeded to the home of Vietta Hoggart for the meeting, which was opened with a reading by Ora Bruce. There were nine members present. Edythe gave the treasurer's report. There was a gift exchange and cards were played. Jamiesons greet Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, Dec. 21 were Jim and Ramona Jamieson. Ushers were Elgin and Dennis Penfound, The fourth advent candle was lit. The senior choir sang. The sermon topic was "The Search for Security". Snowy road causes accident Winter weather conditions con­ tributed to a one-vehicle accident in Belgrave at 3:45 a.m., Dec. 20. Terry C. Gingerich, 30, of RR2, Harriston, Minto Twp. was driving a 1997 Dodge pickup and hauling a trailer on Hwy. 4, just south of Parker Drive, Belgrave. Gingerich lost control of the truck on the snow-covered road and went into the east ditch. The vehi­ cle, which rolled onto it roof, sus­ tained moderate damage. Gingerich and his passenger, Brad Holst, 17, of RR4, Harrison, Minto Twp., were taken to Wing­ ham and District Hospital minor injuries. There were no charges. with Special remembrance It was a very special occasion for Kathy Burkholder as she accepted a plaque dedicated to her late father, Ted Elliott, who gave years of service to the 2967 Brussels Royal Canadian Army Cadets. Captain John Grobbo, left, who presented Burkholder with the plaque, said her father "was a great friend of the corps. He was always available to talk over problems and to help. He was a great supporter of youth." Elliott had been involved with the cadets for more than 15 years. Brussels Legion President Rick McDonald was on hand for the presentation. euchre Sixteen tables were in play al the Dec. 15 Christmas euchre held al the Ethel Community Centre hosted by the hall board. NORMAN MONTGOMERY HAYES Norman Montgomery Hayes, BA, DHA, former executive director of the Wingham and District Hospital passed away in his home early Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997. Bom in Tara, Ontario on Jan. 20, 1932 he was the son of Kathleen (Montgomery) and Harold Hayes. He was the patient and loving husband of Lynne Armstrong and much loved father of Wendy Hayes, of Unionville, ON, Tamara Hayes and Derek Feltham of Portland, Oregon and Ryan and Carol Hayes of Calgary, AB. He was a special "Gramps" to Eric Hubbard of Unionville. He is survived by Zoe Hayes, Antigonish, N.S. his first wife and mother of his children, his brother John of Vancouver, BC, and grandchildren Corey and Mark Hayes of Barrie, ON. Predeceased by his sister Marian Clidero, (Mrs. Robert). Mr. Hayes spent his early career in the Canadian Armed Forces with postings in Ontario and overseas. He left the military to pursue his education in Health Administration at the University of Toronto, Class of ’74. He spent the remainder of his career at the Wingham and District Hospital. A celebration of his life will be held at the Wingham Golf and Country Club, RR 4, Wingham on Friday, Dec. 26, 1997 at 2 p.m. Friends and relatives will be received by the family commencing at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements under the direction of Beattie-Falconer Funeral Homes "Tasker Chapel", Blyth 519-523-4577. In keeping with Norman's personal philosophy that everyone should develop to their potential, a scholarship fund is being established in his memory for graduating students of F. E. Forever loved, forever missed. STANLEY A. BLACK Stanley A. Black, of RR1, Bel­ grave, passed away Dec. 17, 1997 at the Wingham & District Hospi­ tal. He was 81. Mr. Black was the beloved hus­ band of the former Leona While and dear father of Lila and Leroy Rintoul of RR2, Lucknow, Harvey and Barb Black and Bryan Black, all of Belgrave. He is survived by 11 grandchildren and six great­ grandchildren. He was predeceased by his par­ ents Harvey and Lila (Cook) Black, his son, Kenneth Black (1996), his brother, William Black (1986), and his sisters, Hilda Vincent (1997) and Marjorie, in infancy. Visitation was held at McBumey Funeral Home, Wingham, Friday, De. 19, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service was held there Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Mary- Jane Hobden officiated. Interment in Brandon Cemetery. Memorial donations to Belgrave Community Centre or the charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
