Shaun Scott of the Teeswater-area is bass player, while guitarist Joshua Gropp and drummer Rob McKercher are Brus sels and area residents.z VKe welcome your letters Rudolph, aka, Scott McDonald, Brussels CIBC manager, and his friendly reindeer brought Santa Claus (Reeve Ralph Watson) into the story "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" at Brussels Business Group’s Home for the Holidays pageant and fashion show at the Legion on Thursday. Festival in high spirits as goals met The 1997 season was "an artistic triumph" reported the Blyth Centre for the Arts board of directors to the membership at its annual general meeting Dec. 11. Last February, after endorsing the season as proposed by Artistic Director Janet Amos, the Blyth Festival received news of a more severe cut than expected from the Ontario Arts Council and, being too late to change its plans, the board of directors took the unusual step of approving a budget projecting a $29,912 deficit. Attendance for the 1997 season was 28,535 (65 per cent). A successful tour of Barndance Live! to Shelburne in September sold 75 per cent and established a wonderful rifew relationship. The actual operating deficit on the 1997 was $29,112, which is $800 less than was budgeted. Those attending the annual general meeting heard that from this year's remount of Quiet in the Land - which was one of Amos' first commissions - to her Young company's Pieces of Alligator Pie, the standards of directing, acting and production set the bam at an all-time high in 1997. Special kudos went to Paul Thompson for Booze Days in a Dry Country as well as Barndance Live! and to Dave Scott, the newly-elected mayor of Seaforth, for his Poem Continued from page 22 But you've got to be careful with that world today. Deborah Kimmett's Overboard! revealed the terrific potential for the Garage theatre space for audiences who love something different in a more intimate setting. "Janet's last season was a worthy culmination of the four mind- bending years she's spent restoring Blyth as a vibrant and viable theatre," said new Artistic Director Anne Chislett in her report to the annual general meeting. "She has left us immensely proud of the work we do here, and her example will inspire all of us to move confidently forward to new artistic adventure." General Manager Karen Stewart summed up the past year by saying, "We have done a remarkable amount of activity on an extremely tight budget, due to extremely careful planning, a superb production manager and technical staff, and a continually hard working board and staff. This positive outcome was only possible with excellent support from the whole team!" f TWIN CINEMA ] ■ | SURROUND SOUND STEREO | LISTOWEL 291-3070 DECEMBER 20 TO 23 H -CINEMA 1 4 & 7:30 PM E■FRI.jDEC. 19 7:30 Z r TITANIC ■ -12:30 & 2 PM FAM,LY LITTLE MERMAID z CINEMA 2 FrL,Dec. 19 7&9 z 2&4&7&9 ■HOME ALONE 3 CLOSED DEC. 24 & 25 Canadian Theatre BLYTH JTappy 55th Anniversary Dad & Mom (Wobbe & Pietje Bylsma) Dec. 23 Friday-Saturday A Meet FESTIVAL P.O.
